Woo Hoo! Car is back on the road

After I finally got unlazy my car is finally back on the road. For those of you who dont know, I blew up my 5 speed transmission back in early December. I bought a used/broken case tranny for $250 that had 16,000 miles on it, and made one good tranny. I got the guts cryogencially tempered as well for strength. And hopefully no more serious breakings. Over the course of the past 2 days I put the transmission back on the car, and then had to take it off again because I accidentlly reversed one of the shifter rods, and 3rd and 4th gear did not "click" into place. So I had to pull the case open and then reseal it and then put it back into the car. Yesterday was the moment of truth. I couldnt find any Redline MTL, so I went with 75-w90 Amsoil synthetic. After I finally got everything completed I took her for a spin. First few bugs was the stereo didnt work. Not sure what happened here, but I gotta fix it today. Second bug was that the reverse lights didnt work. I later found out it was because there was a kink in the cable of the back up light switch, nothing a little solder, heat shrink and electrical tape couldnt handle. Third bug was that the clutch release point is high as *****. Nothing a little adjusting the piston cant fix.

But as for the goods, I never remember the car shifting this smoothly before. Its either because I have a 16,000 mile tranny instead of a 67,000 mile tranny, the Amsoil really does work its magic, the cryogenic tempering made the gears and synchronizers even smoother or all of the above. Unfortunately it was raining yesterday so I couldnt really rag on the throttle too hard without just spinning tires.

So far no leaks and I hope it stays that way. That amsoil is expensive! After the car was sitting for so long, I do notice the biggest difference between my mom's rival 98 v6 Camry i was driving was that my car has ALOT of road noise even with the same tires, made even worse cause the stereo didnt work. Guess my next project is to try to try to shut the car up.

Break out the MacD's plastic servers and the pillows! Good job Eric. Man for the boards sanity, can you please take it easy on the tranny and let it break it before doing the usual 10,000 rpm clutch dumps?

You are the tranny king! I'm too scared to clean my throttle body.
