Differences between 3.5 VQ installations?

Okay all, last week got my new 2002 Maxima GLE (yeah, I know, the SE is sportier, but the car will be my ladies daily driver and see preferred the luxury touches of the GLE over the SE). We both liked the 17" wheels on the GLE better than the SE's too, they look both sportier and classier. And, all the SE's they had at the lot didn't have leather with an automatic. And, she loved the Glacier Pearl White color, which the dealer only had in the GLE. The car is basically loaded but no Nav system.

Anyway, car is very fast, love it.

But my question is: The Maxima is rated at 255 HP and 246 TQ the new Altima is rated at 240 HP and 246 TQ. What's different on the Maxima that gives it 15 additional HP? AND, how is it that they can tweak the Maxima's engine to make 15 more HP than the Altima, but the torque remains the same? That doesn't seem to make sense, since to my understanding torque and horsepower correlate to one another, boosting power in one, would change the other wouldn't it?

Same with the new 350Z. It's rated at 280 HP and 260 TQ
What did they do to it to give it 25 more HP than the Maxima? And with that, it's torque rating, of course, went up, so why didn't the Maxima's when they tweaked it's engine over the Altima?

I'm guessing most of it's involved with the intake and exhaust, but if you know for sure, I'd love to know!

Thanks

Many say they are the same and Nissan just spit out different numbers for marketing, but I have a close friend that works in the aftermarket performance industry, and said that different programming in the ECU and a more restrictive exhaust is the cause of loss of HP in the Altima.
The HP can be different and the T the same becuase they are related at a given RPM. So maybe they both make 240 HP and 246T at 5500RPM, but then after that, the Altima HP drops off, but the Maxima HP keeps increasing, giving it the same T rating but a higher HP rating.

I have already discussed this and don't wnat to go into "proof" or who my contact is, etc. Take it for what it is.

Hmmm. I kinda figured it had something to due with intake and exhaust.

I've driven the Altima and Maxima and there is definetaly a stronger pull from the Maxima.

You state you've discussed this before, care to give the link?

Complete details of the differences would be nice. I highly doubt this information is TOP SECRET or anything, so don't worry, you won't need to give the name of your "contact." I'm sure the info. is available for all to have, but if you can ease the search, I would appreciate it.

from the altima to maxima i think its something to do with intake and exhaust, and for the 350z it might be headers exhaust and intake?
