Fuel sending unit

I could of sworn there was a pathfinder section here but it must've been another forum?
I have a 2001 pathfinder and my fuel gauge doesn't read the fuel correct. The only way to keep track of gas is by tracking mpg on my trip. Is this a fuel sending unit problem?

Thanks in advance

It is a 50/50 toss-up between the sending unit and the gauge in the dash.

service manual - http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Pathfinder/2001/

Go to section EL and go to page 120. This is a built-in test for the instrument cluster. It will light up all the segments of the liquid crystal dispay and also test the gauges.
