How to launch a cvt
People please help me figure out how best to launch a cvt. I have the 2014 nissan maxima sv.. the middle option. I regret to say I've lost drag races to many other stock cars like the camry 2015 and taurus 2011 and the nissan armada 2011...

The hands down best way to launch a FWD car, especially with a CVT, especially against an Armada is to have another FWD car, hybrid or unibody SUV rear end it as fast as possible.
Yes, but you have been given some valuable advice as well. See below...
I know a guy...just leave your keys in the car and it will be gone.

You need to get better tires than stock so they don't spin. Coilovers will help with the traction.
The way I do it just press the gas kindda half way so I don't spin and when I'm off I floor it. That way I get hella quick to 80MPH.
The only good thing about CVT in my opinion is in drag races like that it acts almost like a double clutch tranny. From what I have noticed D or Ds does not make a huge difference. The "Manual" mode I use it for track days only when I want to control the gear I am in when I corner to get the best speed out of the corner.
Hope that helps.
It's a trial by error process with the CVT. They are not designed for racing or drag racing unfortunately.

How have you lost? I've raced 10 times, and only lost once.. I went against, 2004 Mustang GT, 2013 Dodge Charger RT, 2004 Tiburon GT... Etc... I lost to an Audi RS6 from a dig, it was APR tuned though. Tip of advice, Maxima's thrive in rolls from 40+ so if you wanna do a roll, I suggest you do that. As far as the drag racing goes, drop it "Manual Mode" and turn off traction control, and just stomp the gas pedal.
