Power Steering hose leak issue in Maxima/Infiniti
I've had both hoses leak and replaced. My question to the Maxima community is could the leak be created when the power steering belt tensioner is loosened?
When replacing the power steering belt, the pump is forced down pulling both hoses. On the 5th Generation the high pressure hose is mounted in the bracket along the high pressure route along the back of the engine. Should the techs be loosening the bracket along the back of the engine that holds the high pressure hose too when removing the belt? When forcing these hoses down to loosen the belt the hose is pulled which may cause the leaks.

I had mine leaked after a month I bought it new, it was due to a cracked hose from the exhaust where it was routed behind it. Replaced under warranty and I had not had a leak since then since the Hi Pressure hose has a heat shield wrapped around it. I had replace the return line hose that was under the reservoir with a slow leak due to the age of the hose, replaced it myself recently. I don't believe your issue would be from loosening of the pump would cause that, possibly it would be cracked hose like I said above due to the location of the exhaust manifold is.
