PIAA Xtreme White *PICS*

As i've said in a previous posts I purchased PIAA Xtreme white bulbs for my entire car. (Heads/fogs/corners/sidemarkers/interior/etc.) I got them from optauto.com which had great prices. (Had to wait 3 weeks for the 9004's though because they were on backorder).

I installed my interior lights first last week and to my suprise they were bluer than expected.. but I like the look. I have yet to install any lights on the exterior of the car yet because #1 I want to clean out my headlight housings before I install the 9004's, and #2 I ordered diamond clear corners from custommaxima.com and I'm going to wait for those to come in before I put my PIAA's in the corners, since one of my clear corners is cracked. But today I'm going to install my heads/fogs/corners and I'll put some before and after pics up tonight. I currently am running phillips blue vision. I'll update the thread tonight if I put the PIAA's in.. right now im gunna upload some pics of what the bulbs look like in the packaging so you can get an idea of the color.

Cliff Notes: Installing Heads/fogs/corners tonight so stick around for some pics

PICS : Uninstalled

How do you know which nub to shave off? I know they have different values like 21/5 or 32/5 but how do you know which is which?

Okay. I tried searching but everyone just says to cut one off but not which one. They mean on the bulb themselves right? Not where you plug and turn the bulb into?

what exactly are you suppose to shave? And what tool do you use to shave it?I have these bulbs someone charged me $60 for and they are crazy blue. I ordered a wiring harness because I heard they would make the lights brighter and prevent from melting cuz they are 80/100 SO i will see. Is there a write up on hot to shave your bulbs?

While im @ it. What tool do you use to shave your letters on the back?

*UPDATE*

Update
-------

I just put one xtreme plus headlight in. Its pure white.. no ricey blue at all. It actually matches my philips blue vision pretty nicely from head on. Up close the PIAA is a little blue/white and the light output to the road is whiter with the PIAA's. I'm gunna put the H3's in soon.

Finally, I've found the bulb I've been looking for. Hey Nine7Max, did you have to upgrade your headlight harness or are the 9004's stock wattage?

I want to get these for my headlights, foglights, and clearance lights. Maybe for the sidemarkers too!

Later,
-Nick

Stock harness, they're normal wattage. Sorry I couldn't get pics tonight, I promise I will tommorow night. I let my friend drive my car and I drove his car infront of him and I was very impressed with these. I shaved the nub off my 1157 corners to make them run at 27 watts so they match the sidemarkers better. The corners and sidemarkers have that blue tint (as I posted before) but its not that bad. The headlights and foglights are white with very little blue and very little yellow and i'm happy. I got my bulbs from optauto.com although I had to wait a couple weeks more for the 9004's because they're always on backorder.

Hey nine7max,

Where did you order them from? how much? There ARE stock 55w? Huh...I didn't think PIAA made any other 9004 than the "superwhite" or whatever its called and those are no better than coolblues/bluevison.

all your questions were answered in my previous posts But i'll reanswer them. I got them all from Optauto.com. They are stock 55w. All PIAA Had out in 9004 was the superwhite platinum bulbs for a long time but these are newly released. They're called "Xtreme White Plus" as you can see marked in the pictures. I replaced my bluevisions with these bulbs and they are whiter (not blue)

the headlights in Max4Speed's pic look yellow, not white/blue.. If you guys want a really bright white bulb with a bluish tint, get Naxos 100/80 watt bulbs.. You can't see too well in the rain with them... but they look gorgeous from the outside, as good if not better (looking, not functioning) than HID.

As for the corner rewire, I believe the nub shaving only works on 97+ maximas, and you just take out the bulb, use a nail clipper or something to clip off the top nub (the one closer to the glass part of the bulb), and then install the bulb in backwards so it sits kinda loose in the socket.. it will be much brighter this way..

the closest match I found so far to the naxos headlights was the polarg 21/5 watts 1157 corner bulbs.. DON'T get APC 1157 bulbs, they are a really bad shade of blue, almost greenish. thats pretty much all i got to say about lights..

you shave the higher nub and put the bulb in backwards. you can use a nail file.

I have a set of Naxos 80/100 HID bulbs for sale. 20 bucks if anybody wants them. I used them for about a week, now I have real HID's. PM me or e-mail me for details. These bulbs do have nice color to them.

Thats because it isnt really dark out in the pic... trust me at night these bulbs are WHITE. If you're looking for riceboy blue bulbs (aka naxos) then these arent the bulbs for you. If you currently own PIAA Superwhites these are a small step up from them. I'm going to the Feb 23rd NJ meet so you guys can check them out in person if you go... nothing spectacular but definetly worth $60 I think.

PIAA vs. Eurolite?

so i'm looking around and i notice this website is selling Eurolite bulbs for around $18 or so. they claim the Eurolite is the closest to HID light... extreme white with a little blue tint... i don't think he price sounds reasonable for 9004... $18? compared to PIAA's $60... what do you guys know about Eurolite? should i just get the PIAA bulbs instead?

Nice... I gotta try this since my bulbs look so bad now that I upgraded both the headlights and fogs. As long as they seem brighter and dont look so yellow in there it works for me.
