Dyno Database Project Update

Hey guys, sorry i've not been around for a while.. Just wanted to update everyone on my little dyno database project (especially those that expressed an interest in it the first time around)..

Here's the deal.. After working intesively in my spare time for about 3-4 days on this project, I would say that 99% of the programing is finished, and the website just needs some contents, however, there have been a couple of things which have delayed me opening up this resource..

The first are some performance issues with the database (the forums in particular). They are some really nice, richly featured modded version of the snitz forums, but are simply too slow on the hardware I have the website running on now (more than a few users at a time would kill the forums). I would have ditched them for a faster/simpler solution, but I have already programmed/integrated the rest of the website/database around this particular forum's design. I intend to manually rewrite some of the code to be more cache-friendly, and hopefully tweak performance to acceptable levels until i can get some cash together for better hardware.

Furthermore, I have been extremely busy with both schoolwork, and regular work lately, and haven't a minute to spare on this project in like the last month. Unfortunately, the prognosis for the near future doesn't look so bright either (it's the 20 upper level math/physics credits that are killing me this semester).

In short I don't want to launch a website that will promptly cave under load, nor do I want to launch at a time when I have absolutely no time to spare in overseeing matters... (moderating, accepting input, tweaking, fixing bugs, etc.)

So it looks like this project will just sit on the back burner for at least a few weeks more... Sorry to dissapoint any of you that are waiting for this, and just wanted to let you know that it's definitely still in the works...
