Need Help fast!!!!!

Recently my car started to stall out, idle rough, sputter and jerk. The car threw 2 codes, Camshaft Position Sensor (11) and ECU (31). I placed a scan tool and verified both. At times I would even lose communications to the ECU, so I replaced both the Camshaft Position Sensor and the ECU. The car is still doing the same. What could it be????????? I have a 96 SE 5sp. with a PR CAI. Fuel Pressure regulator, Walbro Fuel Pump.

What's your compression like? Bad fuel or filter?

Re: Need Help fast!!!!!

when does it happen? full throttle? idle? Moving? all of the above?

This sounds like a loose wire/connection to me. BTW what do you mean lose communication with the ecu? While driving or using a scan tool?

Re: Re: Need Help fast!!!!!

Yeah it’s not good at all. I have replaced the fuel filter about 5,000 miles ago. I have been using top grade gas. When I am sitting at idle, the car starts to idle rough. It wants to shut off, if I start to take off it starts to hesitate, sputter and jerk.

When I placed the scan tool on the car, I would loss communication to it. Sometimes I wouldn't be able to get back in to the ECU, it just wouldn’t respond. It also would give me some off the wall timing reading. It would say I had 62 degrees timing at one point, then say I had 0 degrees at another. Well, I have called a shop today and they are on the way to pick it up. Let’s see what they say, but all your comments and help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys

were you running NOS also? it would be strange for somebody to upgrade their fuel pump and regulator for no reason.

Hey guys I think I got it.

I was looking over my engine just to make sure there is nothing out of the ordinary before she goes to the shop. There it was.... I found 1 wire stripped and another barely clinging for dear life on the TPS. I honestly don't know how that happen but I have a feeling a local dealer had something to do with it. I will be fixing this tonight and will keep you guys posted. Thanks again for all the input.
