Does that wing actually do something like providing downforce etc or is it just there for shoW?

Re: Re: Very nice

Nothing exciting. I'm still working on putting it back togther. The dash is out because of the new headunit and gauges. Front door panels because of new speakers. I got the LE37s sitting at home. No tires yet, I'm trying to put it off until March. It has been too cold to work on my car. I might get some SFC.

looking good

yo Brother, happy new year man. Did ya get some red envelops from your parents for new years? You're probably too old for that crap.

Wing looks good. Brackets came out well.

Is the center and end pieces all one piece? I'm trying to decide if I'm gonna replace my wing or not. May be one of those? How much? You think they can custom make one using my veilside brackets?

email me. later.
ming

ps- Tony, if you're reading this, happy new year to you too. And say hey to Sue for me.

Hmm, that can be debated. Kev might need a bigger wing to keep up though, and I dont think Cheston has his engine all purty like Kev!

well, large isn't that necessary when you talk about our car. the way the maxima is shaped, there's so much dead air that just swirls right above the trunk, adding anything of a spoiler right above the trunk wont do anything.. you need atleast 8 inches off the trunk and set back if you really want any type of "downforce"...

most might think. what? a spoiler on a FWD wont do jack! but they're wrong.. ALL cars going over 40mph have aerodynamic flow characteristics that come into play. i.e. side view mirrors, the way the trunk is set, front air dams, etc. if you've ever been in a cross wind, you'll know that your car gets pushed around like crazy.. by adding a little push to the back of the car, with like a wing, will reduce that type of side to side motion (which is often the car's tail wiggling and trying to catch up with the front wheels)

well, to have maximum effect, this wing should be like taller but that would jsut look nasty. so i went with half looks/half function this time,.. easy wat to tell if your wing gets air over it? put colored water/ink on the leading edge and drive fast, see where the streaks go. if it stays put which most water will at 3inches above the deck, then you know ur AOA is too weak.

I think it would look a lot better with gunmetal wheels... The carbon fiber on the car would be more of a second color theme. Also, the small end caps look kind of strange, I like Ming's old Veilside wing a bit more.
