How does a SC or NOS maxima compare to an M3?
My friend just got a brand new 2002 M3 yesterday, and if there were any words to describe that thing I would, but there aren't so I'll refrain from doing that . So I was just wondering how does a supercharged or NOS'ed maxima compare to the new M3, in terms of speed and what not. Because I don't like feeling like I'm standing still even though I'm flooring the sh*t outta my car, so I have to do something to my max or just get an M3 somehow , so opinions/facts please, how do the 2 compare.

After driving my friend's 2001 M3 last August, it made me put down a payment on a 2002 M3. I have to say that I doubt that an SC Max, Nos Max can compare with the new M3's. My opinion is that you can do all the suspension and engine mod's on the max, and yet it still wont compare to the newer M3's.

A Maxima shouldn't compare to a new M3.:bash:

Re: M3...
I seriously doubt that WRX was "slightly modded". I'm baffled why people are so into the speed factor. How about reliablity? How does a SC/NOS max compare with the M3 in regards to reliablity?

WRX with a gutted exhaust gets good hp gains.
Stock M3 goes 0-60 4.9sec
WRX 5.4
seems reasonable.

If it's all about speed, I'm sure there are many cars that can beat an M3. I've driven my cousin's 2k2 M3. It's fun as hell; super smooth and responsive. But I don't think it's all about the speed. When you buy and M3 you're getting:
1. the BMW name
2. the M3 name (M cars have some heritage)
3. the engine
4. the technology
5. the chasis
6. the interior (this is something the WRX or Max can't even touch).
There are probably others, but I believe the list above is sufficient. I guess the Z can somewhat fall into this category, but it's still not even close to a M car.
So people can mod the hell out of their max's and wrx's and maybe beat a M3, but I would still rather own an M3.

Stillen is the answer for a supercharger. They recommend a 7 PSI for quality issues. Must wait until NISMO produces upgrades in September.
I come from a similiar business and many say that they will produce parts for the upcoming 350z,g35,skyline,etc........... this is bull****!
THEY WILL PRODUCE FOR VEHICLES ON THE ROAD NOW! IT'S ALL ABOUT SELLING NOW. WHAT IS ON THE ROAD NOW. VOICE YOUR OPINION.
i ASSURE EVERYONE THAT THIS IS THE CASE. My supercharged Harley-Davidson motorcycle was a priority over the V-Rod.
They will make one for the V_Rod but not right away....
Vendors will support the road before developement~! I know this market well

comparing the M3 to the maxima is like comparing a mcdonalds burger to an expensive steak.
I like both of them, when I'm hungry either will fill me up but if they were both the same price I doubt a bigmac will be my choice and it won't impress anybody like a steak will. Both have their advantages, but they are not the kind of things people compare.

How about a 2k2 M3 and around 95 or 96 NSX?? My cousin was asking me the question since he was looking into both of them..I will choose either one tho..Both nice cars and also 95 NSX still pretty reliable. But if going to a club, I believe NSX will get more attention than the new M3 right!! I heard NSX's handleing is like super super good, I don't know about if it compare the the new M3 which will be better??

Do you buy a car for your own personal satisfaction, or to show off to others?

All kidding aside, just test drive the E36 M3 at your local BMW dealer. Go for the worst of the M3's, the 1995. If you do the '96+ then this d*** question will come up again. how does the 95 M3 compare to Maxima? I drove a M3 Lightweight and like I said before, I see where the Integra Type R got its heart.

That's the first car I wanna run
When ever I get my cat out. I ran the new before I put it the shop.
We ran from a roll @ 15mile. I stayed with him in first. he started to pull in third then in third he pulled like 2 cars on me.
Then we both got pulled over for racing and got some big A$$ tickets.
Unclemax: all the boltons and Ecu except pully. i was riding solo
New M3: stock convertable, and 4 PEOPLE in the car.
So I pretty much got my bootey handed to me.
Same results running new M5 but it seemed slower than the M3 and I didn't get busted.
But that the first car I wanna run when the Turbo gets tuned.

The E46 M3 does 0-60 in the 4's, there's no way any Maxima could do that without radical modification and that wouldn't be reasonable. There's simply no reason to keep asking. Anyone who asks hasn't driven an M3, it's that simple. It's as if you want to find some kind of fault in that car. The E36 basically ripped all cars in it's price range from 95-98. Yeah, some newer hardtop Vettes showed up on the scene with a mysterious sub 40k price tag. Try to buy one for that price!! Oddly enough I have only seen 1 E46 M3 and that was in Montréal. I've seen about 5 M5's though.

They are extremely hard to find, and if you do find one, expect to pay $5-10k above MSRP. I've been waiting since Mid Summer 2001 to get mine.

Not if done right. I"m not saying it'd be simple. Alot of work yeilds alot of results.

I am too lazy to read the whole thread but here is my input:
I raced a new M5 when I was using my 75 shot of nitrous. I pulled on him till about 45 and then he started to pull on me. At the middle of my fourth gear he shifted into 5th and it was over. Without the top gears I doubt a Max would have a chance.

We got plenty here in Houston. Then again I saw yellow diablo and two 360 Modenaa within 10minutes of each other on Sat. I've seen plenty of the new 911 Turbos (996 I thnk) those are awsome. Galleria seems to be the area to showoff those nice cars. Finding any M is gonna be easy on my hunt for the M's. Muahahaha!! Ok i'll laughing if I still get spanked

just cuz u have a supercharger doesnt mean your car is magically better than say a european car. well maybe for Keving... but anyhoo.. just means that you can accelerate faster.
i think my max would be slightly faster than the old m3 circa 95-99
the brand new m3s are freakin insane-o. i'm not even going to attempt to rev on those guys.
pitty. i just want the shear brute torque that a rwd car has.. sigh...
