swap front and back tires?

The tread on my front tires is getting a little low compared to the back. I don't do burnouts, but I do floor it in first quite often, which does create a little wheel spin, thus removing more tread than the back.

My question is, would there be any problem with swaping the front and read tires so that I can get more life out of this set of tires?

Re: swap front and back tires?

if they are the OEM set of 'all season' tires, then they are multidirectional. So you could swap them any way you like. It says on the tires if the are one way directional (usually indicated by an arrow). Check it out

Like Nick said if theyre multidirectional you rotate: front to back (same side) then next time move back tires to the opposite front side. Then go front to back and repeat the cross. If they're unidirectional then you can only swap front to back.

they are one directional

when I first got the car, my dad was looking at it, and he saw that one tire in the front, and one tire in the back were not turning in the proper direction for the tread. I swapped the two, to make it right again. I'm glad he saw that though, because I never would ahve noticed, and that could ahve been dangerous in the rain.

I guess I will be switching my front and back tires this weekend. I have non-stock 15" tires /w hubcaps () I don't know the tread rating, but they are rated up to 140mph i think, I will double check that next time I take a long trip by myself, I wouldn't want a blowout at 100mph or anything...

I rotate my tires every 6 months. Spring and Fall usually.

I actually never have my tires on long enough to rotate them. I usually swap wheels every 6 months or so and I put a lot of mileage on my car so sometimes I'll rotate them while doing a project i.e. brakes. While the wheels are off my car I usually get them rebalanced but I don't know if this is even necessary. I figure I have lifetime balancing and the wheels have been laying flat for a while so why not do it
