IS 300 2002 VS. Maxima SE 2001

Hi guys!!!

I would like to know which car is faster Lexus IS 300 '2002 or Nissan Maxima SE 2001. Please let me know if you had ever race with Lexus IS 300 '2002. Also, which car is faster Nissan Maxima 2002 or Lexus IS 300 '2002. I am more interested on results auto vs auto.

Thanks, Ruslan

5spd or auto IS 300

I think this is the first year they can come with a manual transmission. 2001 5spd max vrs 5 spd IS300...probably the IS 300, auto IS 300, the Maxima. Manual IS 300 vrs 2002 6spd...definitley the 6spd, not sure about auto though, probably a close race. Who knows times for the 5spd IS 300's?

2K1 5 speed beats IS300 5 speed or auto. I’ve seen a few tests on the IS 5-speed and it didn’t really get to 60 any faster than the auto. 7.1 or 7.2 seconds, I think. I even heard the 5-speed was slower.

Here are the numbers straigt from the lexus IS book from Lexus.
(2001 auto IS 300)

0-60- 7.1 secs
1/4 mile- 15.3 secs
215hp@ 5,800
218 lb-ft@3,800

Those numbers don't seem like they can beat any 5th generation max auto or stick. Thats competition for the 4th generatin

the IS300 and Maxima are very close in straight line performance. No one can say that everytime an IS300 races a Maxima that one will be a definite winner. It's just too close to call.

Unless we are talking about both cars as 2002 models, then the maxima (unless the driver is a retard) should easily pull an IS.

Ive taken on 3 of these "THINGS"..... 2 looked stock, one had a greddy, all 3 fell to the sword of my 2K2 Auto with few mods... The closest one, the one with the Greddy, only got smoked by a car and a half. Im not sure if they were 5 speed or stick, I also raced one on the highway, we gunned it at about 65 MPH, and he was also walked....I am not sure how a PRE 2K2 would do.

Yes...that was the question, was it not?

I know ONE member you know of raced an IS and lost...but that doesn't mean that EVERY IS will be faster than EVERY maxima..too many things play a factor.

Maybe he doesn't HAVE either car, but is curious as to the peformance of both. I do agree that threads like this get tired rather quickly, but at least take into consideration his motivation for the question.

Ummm, hi.

I know this has nothing to do with the original post, but:

Excluding the 2k2s, the 4th generation maxima is a pretty even match for the 5th generation maxima, if not faster. keep in mind the 5th gen's are heavier. Please dont make it sound like the 4th gen is on a lower level performance-wise than a 5th gen. Thank you

[edit]

MadMax55, you have a 4th gen too. Are you trying to imply that the 5th gen's are faster?? Come on man!!

Your right my fault! I do own a 4th Generation and I love it. I wasn't really thinkin when I wrote what I wrote. I didn't realize that with the little increase in power came an increase in weight. I didn't mean to put the 4th Generation down. I realized I did after I wrote it and was to late.

It's all good man, as long as you realize the power of your car
