Dyno Results for 4 modded Maximas.

Myself, BEJAY, BriGuyMax and MAX2000JP dyno'd today.

Me:
96 GXE 5spd, 121K
JWT POP, Cattman Y-pipe
181.9 hp and 189.4 tq. I'm happy.

BriGuyMax
97 SE 5spd, 87K
JWT POP, PR upper intake tube, UDP, Ypipe, catback.
160hp and 174 tq. Weak. Something's wrong.

BEJAY
97 SE 5spd 60K miles
All bolt ons, plus 5th gen muffler and G-Force ECU
188hp and 207 tq!!!!!!! Talk smack about G-Force ECUs now...

MAX2000JP
2000 SE 5spd, 24K miles
JWT POP, Cattman Y-pipe
171hp and 191tq. Weak, something's wrong here too.

Good day for me and BEJAY, bad day for Brian and Jason. Looks like they have some repairs to look into.

Szymon aka max7 and Steve aka SteveChicagoSC were present also but did not dyno.

Those are some good numbers for the Maxima with the G-Force ECU. I've got one question though. Where is the 207fwtq peak occuring and for how long does it last? Is it a spike or is the car producing 190fwtq from 2000-6000rpms. There's never been any doubt that the ECU'd Maximas make some very heathly torque, the question is if that torque is actually useable from 4000+rpms. If the torque spikes at say 3000rpms then falls into the normal range (180-190fwtq) around 4000rpms, that 207fwtq does you no good on the track. If the motor can sustain the torque after 4000 then HELL YA I'll consider one of those ECUs

I guess I'll have to wait till BEJAY chimes in to see what he says. Was BEJAY ever run at the track?

I thought G-Force ECU's were for 95/96 models only? BTW great numbers Nealoc!

Out of the 4, yours is definitely the more impressive for what you have! I would have thought maybe mid 170's HP. And on an older car with high mileage--must be well maintained. Phenomenal.. congrats. And you have the stock cat-back? Maybe the popcharger is for real...

The max tq on BEJAY's dyno was made AFTER 4000 rpms....NOT before....and he hasn't been to the track in a LONG time.

Interesting tidbit....my car is obviously not dynoing what it should....BUT...my max tq of 174 occured at 3300rpms.....for the first 200 rpms of the dyno graph..my dyno looks IDENTICAL to Max7's dyno....then it just drops off like MAD....I dunno...

Wow, 209 at the wheels is very impressive, considering the car is stock with 205 at the crank!

Here’s my charts from yesterday. Thanks apgPerformance!

I started with 2 pulls to compare the ECU. Mods on my ’97 SE include CAI, UDP, Catt y-pipe, RT Cat, Courtesy b-pipe, stock muffler. 70K miles.
#1 Stock ECU
#2 G-force ECU
Dyno Pulls 1,2 - G-force swap

The blue Max TQ figure is wrong – should be about 191 not 207.6. But the curve is correct. G-force added 2.8hp, and 6.3tq. Good usable torque from 3500-5000.

We then swapped in Dixit’s old 5th gen muffler (not a 15min job). And back to the dyno. Heck more pulls = better validity.
#3 Stock ECU
#4 G-force ECU
Dyno Pulls 2,3,4 - G-force swap

Again, forget the green Max TQ figure but curve is good. G-force added 4.6hp, and 13.3tq Again good usable torque above 3400 with a slight dip around 3900.

I’m very pleased. No who see’s the real surprise in these tests?

Man I am starting to think maybe just maybe I should not have given up the stock 5th gen muffler.

Those curves are really confusing because they don't jive with the numbers. How did they screw that up? They shouldn't have to do any manual inputs on the curves because the Dynojet program should do this. Good numbers though. Take that thing to the track and see what it will do.

Re: Dyno Results for 4 modded Maximas.

Wow, add the variable intake manifold to your car Nealoc and BEEjay, and your 4th gens would probably break the 200fwhp barrier And it would do it NA!

That would be TOTALLY awesome!!

SAE corrected is weighted so anybody can easily compare figures with anybody else.

"Air density is affected by the temperature, pressure and humidity of the air. On a hot day, or at high altitude, or on a moist day, the air is less dense. A reduction in air density reduces the amount of oxygen available for combustion and therefore reduces the engine horsepower and torque."

Taken from the following site which can be used to adjust raw figures.
