Did Something Crazy Today!!!raced A Modded Lightning

Today I was bored and was on the hunt for a somebody, and finally as I was leaving to come back home it was me and a lightning next to me and he waited for me to punch it so I did and boy did he put 3 car lengths on me right away but by the time I got to third I reeled him in to 2 car lengths and bam a cop but he kept on going and light turned red, we did it again at the light from a roll this time he put one car length on me. I give him the horn and thumbs up and we pull over, turns out he is running 12lbs of boost and he upgraded his pullies and hes chipped as well. He was like that was a good race and then I told him I am supercharged and popped the hood and his eyes got big and said no wonder you were able to keep up with me I didnt even pay attention to your whining noise at first. He never saw a hooked up Max before, and complimented me on the way my car looks. Well that was a good ending to my day with a truck that has 442HP under the hood.
When he was stock he said that a S/Ced mustang put so many car lengths on him he couldnt even catch up. He also raced a corvette and the guy laughed at him at first but he smoked him and the guy in the vette said nice truck at the end.

He did admit he would not race me from a dead stop he said I d smoke him because the car has too much torque he will just sit there and spin his tires away, thats how he lost to a civic.

Nice race. Those trucks are ridiculously fast. What are your 1/4 mile times?

nice run.. however.. a lightning will not perform as well with upgraded boost like a maxima does.. lightnings have roots blowers.. which actually start loosing hp at high boost.. where maxima's have centrifuagal which works like a turbo.. higher the boost the more the hp.. and what i mean by the lightning looses hp.. i dont' mean it goes negative.. i mean .. as the PSI increases the amount of hp decreases.. like running from 11 PSI to 12 PSI it might only be an increase of 20 hp..

nice run though Jay

I havent gone to the track yet I have really bad track time without the SC/ 15.9, that is what I ran last time and that was against my neighbors msutang GT, he came with us. But this guy with the Lightning gave me his number and he said he will come with us if we go next time. Lets see if he can get some tires since the rear tires are almost shot. I just priced the tires for hime they go for $369 EACH plus shipping from the tirerack

Jay - VERY nice run. Was he a '99 ? If so, they are 40HP weaker than the '01 lightnings. Either way congrats becuase those trucks are Rockets.

Jaime, nice run. What color was that Lightning? Was it white Lightning driven by a middle aged man? I spoke to a Lightning owner once when I brought my Tantrums to get them powercoated. That Lightning owner said the best he ran was a 13.2 1/4 mile. Don't know if it was him or not.

They are club linea speciale 18x8 with a 40MM offset,

NO this guy was younger then me and you Mike, it is a black Ligtning with black SVT 18s on it, Hispanic guy and I also found out where the crowd hangs out here to race he invited me tonight but I have to wake up at 245AM other then that I would have gone to smoke some behind. , this is 2002 Lightning faster then the others he just bought it not too long ago, he installed exhaust, chip and pullies. That sucker is fast and my neck was glued to my seat and he still got me.

I have not replaced my clutch yet it still grabs pretty good but I can not chirp my tires no more in first, so I am assuming it is starting to go.

Nice run--Why is it that SVT is so much better than regular Fords? everything about them, not just the power, it's like it's a whole other car company

As many of you may know, I've been avictim of a Lightning before in B'ham in THE RAIN!!!

But, in the end, I got the respect of the driver after chatting and he realized that I had taken out the SC.

Don't care what anyone says, those trucks are MAD fast. Just have to repair them often...

hahahahahahah

I knew you couldn't hold out!

Good run!

As far as a track day goes, I was thinking Wednesday March 6 heading out at 4pm to the new track outside of Donaldsonville up towards Baton Rouge. Depending on the pregnancy barometer

haha.. good story.. i have a 93 typhoon and you should see the looks ive gotten from people. most people dont even know what the hell it is to begin with and just think its a regular blazer.. long time ago i had a guy pull up next to me in a vette at a lite.. he was revvin it up so i started power braking to build up the boost.. my truck had an intake, exhaust and chip. was suppose to be running about 400 horse and 440lbft of torque. (remember now im awd) lite turned green, i f$cking smoked him off the line and he just couldnt catch up.. pulls up next to me at the next lite and his exact words were, "how the f-ck did u do that?".. ahh what a feeling.. hehe

Congrats on the race.

I cant wait to see some of your track times!

My cousin has a 99 L w/ VB, Cone filter, Chip, & bigger TB and runs 12.5's all day long to give you an idea of what a L will run with mods like that.
