Is Maxima a car for keeps?

I see most of ppl from 5th gen forum have traded in 2ks for 2k1s and 2k2s. How long all of you plan to keep your Maxima? Is it such a bad investment that you want to rid of it 1 yr later?

It is if you trade it in one year later. Deprecation will rip you a new one. I've haven't seen too many people trade in their 2K for a 2K1 *cough*Russ*cough*, but a few have gone to the 2K2. Most people want the extra 30some ponies the 2K2 offers. I'd love to trade up to a 2K2 but I'm so upside down on my 2K that I'd practicly have to sell the wife's car for it work.

Definately a keeper. Can you think of anything you dont like? I mean keep it and keep on modding. I am keeping my 92 SE even though I will be upgrading soon to a 5th gen. My goal is to finish modding the 92 SE and keep it. Hell I dont owe anything on it. Then get the 5th gen and mod it out. Then I will have 2 modded to **** Max's that are paid for. What more could you want???

Well if you buy a Max as an investment you're not to bright, so yeah... I'd say it's a "keeper". If you're going to get rid of it after a short time you're better off leasing.

its true, maximas go down like a rock in resale, but in my case, my 1995 will be with me for a long time. its got 80K on it, and im gonna keep it till 200K. if youve got money to lease it, go for it, but otherwise, keeping it is the best bet.

Kinda like how I see it. I wanna drive my max into the ground mileage wise and then maybe sell it to my brother when he is old enough. But I mean if I can get a few good years out of it then I am happy.

I'm going to have my 97 for quite a while. Hopefully it will become the 2nd car again, and eventually I'll probably just run it into the ground.

Well, I really want to get a 5-speed Maxima. So, right now, I'm planning to get about a year out of this car. Then I'm gonna get another '97-'99 SE w/ a 5-speed. Then I'll probably keep that car, and it will eventually become a 2nd car. I'll probably end up SCing it as a fun car, and then I'll get a BMW or something as my daily driver, or another Max. I dunno.

I have had my 89 GXE for nearly 5 years.. I will soon be buying a 2k2.. But for a car that is 12 years old it runs great, and still gets lots of compliments..
