Dynoed my 02 6spd today! With Greddy/RT cat and with and with & without franken ram!

Just got back from the dyno folks! I am pretty happy with my results .

All the #'s are SAE corrected, altitude is about 600 ft and the barometer was 29.92 and the car has 4300 Miles on it.

First off, I dynoed my car about a month ago and my peak power was 221.8 FWTQ & 205.4 FWHP.

Since then I added a Random technology high flow cat(2.5') and a greddy Evolution cat-back exhaust syestem.
So with this new setup my beast mustered up a peak 230.6 FWTQ(4350 RPM) & 214.6 FWHP(6350RPM) .

So the Greddy and RT cat gave me a peak HP/TQ gain of 9.2FWHP /8.8FWTQ
@5400 RPM I gained a maximum TQ gain of 9.7
@6000 RPM I gained a maximum HP gain of 11.0
Not bad for a little exhaust work, huh? theblue I should have taken you up on your bet of me not getting atleast 5 FWHP! haha..
My whole power band has richend with the new exhaust, the whole power band is up about 5-8+ TQ and 7+ HP

I also decided to remove my Franken Ram section and replace it with my oem intake box. The ram section added about 3-5 TQ and 3+ HP through out the whole power band. Not to shaby, and it sounds awesome! Peak HP jumped down to 208.2 with out the franken ram & peak TQ was down to 227.5. So the franken ram gave me an extra 7.4 FWHP! And 3.1 FWTQ. Props to Steve and Matt C for making such a good product! Thanks guys..

One last thing to mention(DAVE!) is that for some reason my max still breathes mutch better then any other dyno I have seen of the 3.5 VQ! My car is still making peak HP at @6350 RPM and holds all of it's power until redline @ 6500 RPM. Also my car is making over 200 FWHP from 4500 RPM-6500 RPM! I say it's the Stillen velocity stack and franken ram, but maybe that's just me.

More dynoes comming soon.

Thanks, word on the street is Stillen will be comming out with some headers very shortly! Also Weapon-R is supost to be comming out with a ECU modification(I wish GForce would!) very shortly. I am going to dyno both them when they come out. My goal for this car is 245 NA FWHP

Yep, $125 but I got about good 7 runs in and I was swapping around intake peices.

Cheston, so do you think the weapon R ecu won't help at all? Is it like a glorified Jet chip or something

I added a little pic in my first post of my car on the dyno(it's a little dark)

No problem but I do not agree with nissan over rating this engine. Just take a look at the automatic tranny dyno #'s. There around 189-198 FWHP(typical loss for a auto making 255 crank HP). I just think that the 6spd trannsmision looses a lot of power.

Excellent numbers!

I think you have the most powerful NA Maxima to date!

When are you going to install the UDP?

There 5spd tranny puts down as much as our 6spd tranny, therre 5spd is much more effecient. Go compare some auto altima #'s to a maxima and you will see that the maxima does make about 10-15 more HP.

Phayguy, we will see about the UDP dyno, I don't want to dyno my car to often becuase you really have to beat the **** out of this car to get the big HP #'s out of it. The VQ35 needs to get really hot before it performs well, I know it's weird but it's great for racing! Once I get this months credit card bill I will probably order a UDP, so expect results in about 2-4 weeks. When are you going to dyno your RT cat and UDP?

Good numbers Ethan!!!! As for your car making power straight to 6400rpms, I still don't buy it. I don't know what the problem is, but it just doesn't make sense that your Maxima has a much higher volumetric efficency than any other 2k2 on the market. The peak rpms won't change, even if you put and intake and exhaust on. The values might change, but not the peal rpms. The only way to increase usable rpm is to either add forced induction or revise the intake manifold. Your power is right in line with every other 6 speed 2k2 Maxima out there, the only difference is your power peak rpms.

Why not take that 2k2 to track and prove me wrong BTW, throw that G-Tech out the window on the way to the track Seriously, run your G-tech at the track and you'll what many of us have been saying about the G-Tech (ie inaccurate).

Argh.. With out my franken ram I did not get the big power peak at the high RPM's, so it's not the dyno. We hooked up clylinder # one and we went over everything twice, I told him you thought something was wrong with the dyno and he just shook his head. My whole power band is simalar to all the other ones until 5400 RPM's, at that point my car just holds the power and even creates more power. Also my whole power band is identical to the last one(just a little higher).
, I'm telling you it's not a screw up.

I am going to "try" to go to the track this spring, the catch is that closest track is almost 2 hours away.

Would you maybe beleive me if I go out and buy a scanner tomarrow and scan my graphs in? I'm telling you, my car's just a factory freak

One more thing to back up my car's high end power band. I race my friends mustang about 10 times a week and we are literaly door to door from 0-95 MPH. On several occasion I have tried shifting at a idicated 6500 RPM(6100 RPM really) and he pulls on me, when I shift at 6900 RPM(6400 really) he never pulls on me, infact I pull a little on him. To me thats more then enough proof. He even said that my car was a lot faster the first time I stated shifting at 6900 RPM

Dave check out Steves dyno: http://www.frankencar.com/product_i/...o_after_lg.jpg .

My plot is identical to his, our intake mainifoldds switch at the exact same RPM and all. The only difference is his car jumps up in power at about 5800-6000 RPM, my power jump is identical in shape and length except that my car jumps at 6200-6400.

I got great deals on both the RT cat and greddy exhaust threw Group deals on the org. The Greddy cost me $474 shipped and the RT cat/hardware kit cost me $175 shipped. The install was free since I did it my self, so all and all not to bad.

freeze00, the car sounds amazing. A nice deep growl comes from the intake and exhaust. The setup is just right IMO, not to loud and not to quite, drowning is almost none existant. Friends say it sounds like I have a big B8 under the hood

Not bad at all! But I still am not sure that I give your exhaust/cat too much credit because look at akrus' run and you just don't show much over him (he only has an intake).

Nice gains with your work!

Something still doesnt seem right with a 255 crank hp engine making only around 205 whp stock. I dont buy that the trans is causing a 20% loss. It seems to me Nissan fudged some numbers. Isnt it suspicious that, at the last minute, they dropped the rating from 260 to 255 hp? (Ditto what they did on the Sentra?) That 255 hp still seems like a stretch. Id say its more like 240 hp tops. They gained a crapload of torque (30+ w ft lb), but maybe only 10-15 whp in going to the 3.5L. But, it still should make for a significantly quicker car due to the average power being greater over the usable rpm band.
