Yes I am... From what I know, JWT & SGP both say that a stock VQ30 bottom end is good for ~350fwhp. That was my goal, and I only hit that right at redline, so I feel I am as safe as I can be. The limiting factors of a well tuned VQ30 are the head gasket and open deck design I think I'll blow a head gasket before I break parts from raw power. But, if the motor detonates under these loads the stock rods and/or pistons will go. My AFR is very conservative, plugs were quite clean and showed no signs of detonation or heat, EGT's with the nitrous hit 710c which is very safe. If Thomas's motor can take 385fwtq at the push of a button I'm sure my 329fwtq is ok.

I'm more concerned about the transmission...

Any Answer to these Qs?

What is involved for the install? adjusting the RPM swith too?

What does this look like installed compared to the stock one?

AS I worry from what my dealer will see, I still got over 30k more of bumper to bumper warrenty =) I guess they couldn't prove this thing hurt anything anyway?

So what were the NA gains??? I just see boosted and NOS numbers.

Was there someone else doing NA dynos?

Peace
Also, will someone be making an aftermarket version here?

And is Roadbeast saying he is no longer selling these now? or just one more time in 2 weeks? or is today the last day to order?

peace

Thanks for the offer Hogan, maybe after a while. But if this motor goes before its time I'll just do a straight up OEM 3.5L swap, then maybe build up a 3.0L.

congrats mardigrasmax! very impressive indeed. one question -- do you have any exhaust setup that takes advantage of the VI? for example a 5th gen muffler?

Let me get this straight. Roadbeast do you mean that we have 2 weeks to order the intake and AFTER that we WILL NOT be able to get one from you?

Basically I mean if I want one in June can I still get one?

Are you using 2.5" piping for your Y-pipe and exhaust?

If so, what kind of gains would you get by going with 3" since you have the SC and NOS.

2.5 Stillen Y, 2.5" Courtesy Nissan "B" pipe, and 2k variable capacity muffler, I think the inlet is 2.25" on this.

Tom at Lightning thougt I could get 20 to 30 more HP up top if I went with a full 3" system. I am not in to loud exhaust, and a 3" would be LOUD! I did purchase a small MIG welder and may try this soon. I just need to figure out what would be a nice quiet muffler for a 3" system. Brian Catts uses an Edelbrock RPM series muffler and says its some what quite. Flowmaster is another choice, but I have doubts about the interior resonance of their products. Other than those, I dunno This wouldnt happen for at least six months either...

... I've got to get the car ready for summer heat we have here in Lousy-anna. I'm "jumping on Kev's bandwagon" and doing a water injection system. I found a GREAT custom DIY system for under $200. Hopefully this will help keep the motor happy on those 95F days and maybe add a few more HP too

It should give you some "umph" when you're off rice juice.

Good price!

If you went full a full system (including cat and muffler), it wont be too bad. Probably not much louder than the 2.5", if at all.

I added 25 whp with the Spearco water injection system on my old S/C VR6. It went from 235 to 260 whp at 9 psi boost. It also cured all detonation problems.

Realistically, you can make a water injection system for about $10 if you dont mind injecting into the supercharger inlet. If you want to inject on the "boosted" side, you can make one for $25.

1st song I'd play is MC Hammer's "You can't touch this!"

I updated the dyno page..

I had the boost only horsepower plot posted twice and no torque dyno, the torque dyno is now up. At the very bottom of the page is a little spread sheet comparing the numbers with the ME/VI closed and open. I weeded the info out for yall, because a bunch of ya got confused by the differences in the plots. The spread sheet will only show in IE, sorry Netscape users. Its a pretty clear gain from 5500rpms up.

Is it the same in a 5-speed? Anyway to change it?

Maybe I need to get in the FSM and do a little tron chasing.hmmmmm

I am just wondering what it will run at the track

Its been sitting on my garage floor ever since it started to knock and I figured out that Steve Sze from Philly and of Carative screwed my by selling me a motor that he knew was bad (as verified by some floks who know him. What a shame full thing to do to another car enthusist. Oh well, at least my credit card company was able to help me with my claim and I got a full refund for the motor and still have it for spare parts.

I remember that. I was quite disappointed to hear that the philly guy did that. Send a defective motor all the way across the country (well almost)I remember there were quite a few people coming to his defense, too, even though no-one heard a peep from Steve. Glad to hear you got your money back.

Nope! But, dont most dyno just about the same?

Ive never seen a 5th gen (even a 3.5L) hit 98 mph.

If you can consistently run over 97 mph with 183 whp, Ill be shocked! All the other 183-185 whp 4th gens seem to be around 93-94 mph.

And as for that dude that sold you that motor and knew it was messed up, dont worry as kind hearted as you are someone is watching over you and will handle that problem. As for me I owe you and was trying to come over perhaps if your not busy sunday I may come over just for 2 mins.

Yup, I bought a present for Anton's b-day once as a gesture of thanks for the numerous times Matt helped me out. I think Anton was quite pleased at the present. However, my nephew and niece...well, let just say they didn't quite take it very well when they found out the present wasn't for them.
