I was going to buy the craftmans Car Ramp but I want to know if this would be good with my max which is lower 2-2.5 than stock. What do you guys use and does it rubb on your way up it?
I saw go to your local Walmart, Target or whatever and they normally have these low rising ramps. And fairly cheap. The autostores normally keep the commercial ones where it is too steap and will rub the front lower lip while coming up.

I like the ones made out of plastic. I believe it's called Rhino and it's suppose to be low profile.

My Maxima isn't dropped, so I can't make an observation from that perspective. I like them because they're lightweight but still have a 12k lb capacity. The incline is 17 degrees per a GiJoe's ad in my local newspaper today.Originally posted by 1MAX2NV

I have Rhino ramps, and even with my B+G/AGXs I can still drive up without scraping. It's getting close though, so any lower than 1.6" and you might have problems.

The best ramps I found were at of all places Kmart. It consisted of a metal ramp (very sturdy) ans a plastic extention about 18 inches long that extended the ramp and reduduced the level of incline so a low car would not drag. I checked everywhere, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, Sears, Walmart, Northern Equipment and I bought at Kmart. The ramps are 1 item and the ramp extension are another. Both of them cost a total of $50. I hope this saves you a lot of running around.

Second vote for that! However, it seems cheaper to purchase the regular yellow ramp then the extension. It should come out to less than the packaged deal.Originally posted by karguy

I got the big black plastic ones. I don't want the metal ones chipping up my garage floor. These are nice but they slide a bit....
how about $30 and some 2x8 from home depot? How high do you want your car? Let's say 8".
You want 4 boards high. Get 4 boards, 2x8, 10' long. Cut one at 2' (so you have a 2' and 8' piece) and cut one at 4' (so you have a 4' and 6' piece). Nail them all together so you have an 8' ramp that steps up every 2 feet.
Do it again for the other side.
You can also nail a stop block on the top so you don't accidently drive off then end.
It's cheap, easy, as solid as any plastic/metal ramp, and you can adjust it for a lowered car by pulling some nails and making some cuts.
ps-this is not my idea but I don't know who to give credit.

ME and my other freind"OK give it a little gas and we will tell you when to stop"
Next thing clutch being dropped to fast then tires peeling out up the metal ramps
Me screaming "STOP"
Brakes being slammed than bamm the front wheels stop on the edge by inches.
ME"Back up your on the edge"
Freind goes to put it in gear but when the clutch was disengaged the wheels went right over
Me"

"just have a car lift built into the garage. That's what i'm going to do when i get some cash.
