Stupid Accident...with an SUV

I was going to work by my usual route on a major highway (rt. 50 West on the Severn River Bridge, for those of you in the Wash/Balt area) when the "soccer mom" in a Suburban radomly decides to panic stop in the middle of a three lane bridge. I quickly engage the ABS and swerve into the clear lane next to me, but still catch her rear right bumper corner. It smeared the corner light right off of my car.... So we pull over and I look at her bumper and say "At least yours isn't that bad..." and she replies "This car was new in December!" At this point, I felt like saying, "Well, my car was new in 1993, and is much more worthy of being on the road than your crappy SUV," but I held myself back. So I exchanged info with her and she was on her way....

Just thought I'd share my tale of woe with you all...

Scott is. ANY time you rear-end someone you're at fault because no matter what the situation is, you were too close. Scott, did you ask if she thought you were tailgating her? I'm sure that she was ****ed off and thought you were (1 car to me is tailgating). Good move not ****ing her off afterwards though, if the police came and filed a report, she could sue you for insurance since it was your fault.

And that is all women drive around here. The reason they get SUVs is because they can't drive in the first place and since they know they will eventually get into an accident they want to be bigger than everyone else. I'm not implying all women are bad drivers, just the ones in SUVs.

I agree. I know a girl that drives a Ford Explorer Sport, but she KNOWS how to drive and how to drive her SUV. Most (85%) of the women driving SUVs in the DC area DO NOT know and get the SUV to be bigger/safer/bolder when they drive. The best is when they try and park those Tahoes/Expeditions/Land Cruisers, the big ones. Sheesh. If you drive a vehicle, you should be able to park that vehicle in a safe/sane manner too.
