anti-theft idea

"security micro-dots" means a thief will have to remove all of them before he can do anything with the car.... interesting.

Interesting concept. My first thought was that if you stole the car, sanded and repainted it you would get rid of them all. However, they put them on the engine and all over. Kinda cool.

i don't get it do these dots affect the car so it can not be moved. or are they just a way to identify someones car, b/c if its the latter then a thieve won't give a damn. b/c hes gonna steal the parts and quickly sell them. i all ready read the article, but can somebody specify?

my take on it

it appears they're invisible except under magnifying glass or black light... I think it's the same idea as engraving the vin in all the glass, it's just that much more work for the thieves if they plan on anything more than a joy ride. I'd also guess you'd want to put some kind of "this car protected by micro-dots" sticker in a *very* visible place, so they'd know.

this will do nothing to stop the joy rider/car jacker, but may deter the semi-professional thief looking to chop and resell the parts because with those it's going to be that much easier to track where the parts came from.

AND... I'd look to get just about anything done to lower my insurance.

i see now. i was under the impression that the dots would make the car completly un-stealable. (btw is that a real word, un-stealable?)

I won't say it's not a word, but I'd opt for "theft proof" instead.
