I wasn't really into trying this but looking back I would have shot myself if I hadn't. It took me a whole 45min. to do this job. I got the pads from GOT RICE. I was a bit skeptical as I am SURE he will tell you. How can you get pads for $30 that are worth anything?! I can tell you that they made as much of an impact on me as the FSTB and the CAI and they only cost me $30.
GOT RICE has an awsome thing going here. I think that they were Axis Metal pads...GOT RICE? I should know, right? But anyway...thanks to him for great pads. I can now 'feel' the brakes and am certain that my stopping distances have decreased. Oh yea....they don't squeak either!

Also..thanks to Daniel, our DIY'er, who convinced me to try it. I bought the Haynes manual for $15 and went to town. I am doing my belts this weekend and hope to do struts in Feb.

Thanks to all who helped!

suhweet. I am glad that you like the pads. I've yet to have one customer to say anything negative about the Axxis pads (well.. one.. he, for some reason, hit the brake pedal when the brake pad wasn't in there.. so the piston fell out.. hehe..) - but he can't blame the Axxis pad!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again.. one of the first mods every car owner (not just Maxima guys) is upgrading the pads, SS brake lines, DOT 4 brake fluid, and PIAA Superwhite bulbs in the fog light housing. Best bang for the buck mods..

Ahhh, I did that.. I hit the pedal when the pad nor disc was there.. Piston fell out. Took like an hour to get it back in and a lot of brake fluid was all over the floor.. Fun stuff..

Which Axxis pads did you get - Deluxe or Metal Master? Were they $30 a pair for the front and $30 a pair for the rear sets?

Do you sell those for the 3rd gen? I have a 93, when cold, the rear drums squeek.

The best place to get shoes for your rear drums are OEM Nissan shoes. I've tried every aftermarket brand I could find under $75 on my car, and they all squealed like a pig after 1000 miles or so.

IF you really wanna fix the problem and get something that'll hold up to "spirited driving" take a look at having your rear drums converted to discs. I picked up the parts to do mine for about $150.. most likely you can get them for around $250-300, then the conversion isn't too difficult. all you hafta know how to do is change your rear strut inserts, the rest of the conversion is all covered in the removal/installation of the rear struts.

Now a Q for Phuong...
I assume I can get the front pads for that price also? (since the front calipers on 3rd and 4th gens are the same) what about a price on rear pads for a 92SE? (the car that I robbed my calipers from) thanks!

I've been trying to get some in stock for the 3rd gen Maximas, but haven't been successful. Sorry.
