i used the e-brake and wheel blocks, and the bleach makes the tires slippery and smokes more.

Thus making it a fake burnout.

Hmm...is this the same thing for stangs ? My friend w/ a 2000 V6 5spd stang, pretty heavily modded, burned out w/o holding down the e-brake..he sat there and spun and then took off...how do you explain that He is RWD but isn't the same principle? (One wheel drive)

he didn't use the e-brake. he just stepped on the brake pedal. that's how you do a burnout in a RWD car. it just wastes your rear brakes.

I see...and FWD burnout's wastes your e-brakes right? RWD seems easier, while FWD requires more "hands on" for burning out.

Yes and your point? If I wanted a race car with manual tranny I would buy one. Maxima is not a race car, no matter how good it sounds or how fast it is. Getting a manual just so I can be half a second faster doesn't justify itself.

Stuck at home on 56K

so I haven't seen the vid yet, I will Friday at work. Did you have burnt rubber stuck to your paint? I had a 70 340 Cuda and an 89 5.0 and I learned the hard way that you should spray your rear quarters with Pam cooking spray before a massive burnout, it makes wiping off the excess burnt rubber so much easier.

no, FWD burnouts just waste your front tires. the e-brake basically just holds your rear wheels in place. the rear wheels aren't spinning so you aren't wasting brake pads - just your tires.

That makes sense..so my conclusion is that FWD burnouts, while more difficult and hands on, are no strain on your brakes.

Thanks for the info guy

By the way... what kind of rims are those? Brand and model, how much do they retail for and what is that finish you have called?

They look damn sweet.

ok the rims are Zigen MO-5 Inperio 18x7.5 with BF goodrich g-force TA Kd's and it was done in second gear i could have had third too. the third gen is a 93 SE 5-spd it's my friends.

i already had a headache for hours ammonia would have killed me.

Cool video. A feww years back I made a video with my Mustang friends called "Fat, Drunk, and Stupid" (Animal House line). Anyways, we've got a segment of burnouts. We've got a 90 LX 5.0, 95 GT, and 98 GT all doing burnouts on a very slight incline. Then you've got my Maxima which only has a POP intake and 17s. Just to prove to friend I could do it, I pulled the e-brake and got the tires to spin hard thru 1st, then released the e-brake, shifted to 2nd and literally sat still for a second or two before I let off a little and got a little traction and started accelerating. With RWD cars it is far easier to "sit and spin" thru the gears.

With my 17s, straightline traction SUCKED!!! Short sidewalls and a wide and narrow contact patch is horrible for the straightline, but good for turns. When I use to hit 2nd hard, I would spin quite a ways before hooking up. Now, with taller 215/55R16 (vs 235/45R17) tires and a much lighter tire/rim combo, I can launch much harder on and off the track and I usually only chirp into 2nd now.

It is easy to do a burnout with a 5 speed without using the e-brake. It's also easy to spin the tires from a roll in 1st at any speed. Even with my better tire/rim combo, traction in 1st is still hard to come by and I still can't harness all the power, but that's just a downside to having good torque in a FWD car.

Dave

So when Steve did the burnout, he started it in 2nd gear? or went from 1st to 2nd? (sorry, im manual transmission inclined) Also, with the wheel blocks... you just put blocks in front of your rear wheels so the car won't move?
