Mounting switches & gauge under armrest...

I'm having a nitrous oxide system installed at this time. I'd like to maintain a certain measure of stealth with this system, so I plan to mount a panel in my center console under the armrest for the nitrous oxide pressure gauge, a bottle heater switch, a remote bottle control switch, a nitrous system arming switch, and the purge button. I will have to put together a game plan, select materials & fasteners, and of course, complete the installation. Questions: What would you use for the panel material? How would you mount/fasten the panel into the storage compartment? Do you foresee problems with this installation? Any words of wisdom/suggestions/advice?

Thanks for your feedback.

Anybody done this in their Maxima? How did your installation go? Any pitfalls I should avoid?

Panel material: Plastic, metal, wood, or something else? How thick?
Mount method: brackets, adhesive, screws, moulding, or all of these?

Please advise. Thanks for your suggestions.

The easy way is to make a shelf out of wood (piece of thin plywood). Use small angle brackets for the shelf to sit on. Make sure the wood shelf is a snug fit. Then when you have the shelf done, cut your holes for gagues, switches and cover the wood in the grey carpet like in your trunk. (glue the carpet on with contact cement)

Professional look, and the carpet will cover any minor defects.

good luck!
