octane boosters?

octane boosters?

I was just curious if octane boosters are bad for you car? there are several different brands out there, can anybody recommend any to me or give me more information about this?

Octane boosters do nothing to improve the quality of fuel. The only thing they do is put more anti-knock additives in there. Although they probably won't harm anything with occasional use, Nissan recommends you don't use them. You're much better off just spending that extra $2 on premium fuel rather than regular.

I guess if you actually need an octane booster, this page can help. I suppose if you got enough of some of those chemicals, it might help under boost or using nitrous.

ok thanks alot for all the info, the reason why i was asking is because i slam the peddle alot and the engine is under abuse so i wanted to know if there was anything i caould do to balance it out.

You might slam the pedal all the time, but does that cause your car to knock? If your car doesn't knock, there's no need to add an octane booster. If you added nitrous/turbo/supercharger boost and you got a knock, a higher octane fuel (not to mention an engine tuning session) would help. Good luck.
