Depends on my mood.

For pure driving-- heading up and down the freeway nonstop, I generally find Erasure, Cure, Petshop Boys and New Order to be my choices...

When crusing in LA, it has to be hip-hop.

Generally though, it's modern rock, hip-hop, electronica, and rock.

Trance is a type of music, right?? What groups do you recommend?? I went to amazon.com and did a search for it. The search pulled up a couple of examples.. Sound
pretty cool. Reminds me of a cd I got that just got tucked away "Strange Cargo" Great music, lots of rhythm and layers of it that roll in 1 after another. Hard to get tired of
music like that. (dang, now where did I put that CD)

I listen to all kinds of music, but my selection has started to grow old on me. Thanks!!

also worth noting

if you dig jungle dub

http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver.../itemid=507676

on some of this jungle stuff, the actual song doesnt start until 0:45 or later so the previews may kinda suck on some.

The only thing I cant listen to when driving is Primus. Its just too dangerous for all parties involved.

Well it all depends on what kind of Trance u like
If you like light trance look for: ATB, Ayla, Alice DeeJay, Art of Trance, DJ Keoki, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Jurgen.
If u like more intense stuff go for: DJ Sasha, DJ Liquid, Kai Tracid, Oliver Lieb, Arrakis, Fused, Koma & Bones vs. Databass, Kosheen, Lab-4, Lee James.

Dude i can name you million of artists. This is all trance, but each DJ has his own style. If you need more info or help, let me know. I love this stuff and I'm surrounded by friends DJs.

Usually techno or trance.

You can sometimes use Internet Radio, like Spinner.com to get a quick education on a style. Just listen in background and when you hear something you really like, check on the artist, then head to CDNOW.com for preview if available. Some trance can be found under Napster if you know what youre looking for - often the mixes are free as they are compilations of other works and not copyrighted themselves.

You can also find a lot of cool trance and techno stuff in dance clubs. Most of them sell the latest and hottest cdz. Or if you like some club tunes ask the DJ, he will tell you what he's spinnin'.

Relax, you fit in. I some DMB in today, Ben Harper is floating around somewhere, along with Metallica, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, and my current 80's kick of Duran Duran and INXS. Gotta get my in-dash changer...

I've been listening to a lot of [Carlitos] Santana lately. I also listen to Beethoven, Boston, Rush, Eagles, Dvorak, Maynard Ferguson, Chuck Mangione, Duke Ellington, and Miles Davis. Just as mentioned elsewhere, anything but Country! That reminds me, have you heard what happens if you play a country song backwards? Well, you get your mobile home and your *truck* back from the repo man, you get back together with your girl friend/first cousin, and yer dawg comes back from the grave!

I usually listen to reggae and dancehall.

Sometimes indian music, which is usually remixed with reggae.

Have you guys ever heard Boost Me by Trevor Rabin from the Gone in 60 Seconds sndtrk?? That is a TIGHT song to listen to when driving. And don't try driving to the beat...otherwise you'll get caught! It's only instrumentals..no vocals...really good music..i suggest you check it out.

I would like to know what genre of music that song belongs to? Is it trance?

I listen to mainly hip-hop and good r&b. The Roots, Common, Xzibit, Rass Kass, Stevie Wonder, Ohio Players, Mary Blige, that kind of stuff. I also love jazz, not too smooth please, fusion, reggae, and some alternative/rock. I really don't like listening to techno/club music in the car because it inevitably gives me a headache. In the club I can take maybe five or ten minutes, tops... longer if I'm drunk and there are beautiful women everywhere.

PS. Do you guys think you should really be listening to trance while driving?

My choices are...
Tricky, Portishead, Bjork, Aphex Twin, Goldie, Apollo 440, sometimes Limp Bizkit, Reel Big Fish, Tool. I usually go to Berkeley a few times a year and there is a great Trance store there. Some English guy owns it and I can find great compilation jungle CD's. I really like the drum and Bass but there is no where I can find any new artists. I have to buy CD's blind
