Guess what it was bone stock and a 5spd! I was on highway 6 going toward 249 when I see the mustang GT racing a 2000 neon LOL. After he beats the neon I pulled next to him to see if he would bite. Sure enough he did, however I believe he underestimated my car because I heard him downshift a 2nd time after I start pulling away. Now we are at a redlight, he revs and so do I. As for the launch I would have expected a better driver to launch harder but his take off was the same as mine. However midway through 1st gear my bumper is at his door. Right at the end of 1st gear my bumper is at his wheels. During 2nd gear my car pulls even with his mustang. When I hit 3rd gear I put his bumper at my rear wheels and I was slowly crawling away. So I put on the flashers to show that I won. Then we did a rollon around 50mph (my car's sweetspot) and again I started to slowly pull away. We never did go past 90mph but it was clear that my car was faster. When we hit the next light he asked me if I had a turbo or something like that. I was like nope just intake and bumpped timing, you should have seen the look on his face. Not to mention his friend in the passenger seat was laughing at the driver when I pulled on him . Yes it was a 5spd and he was going all out, after all how many auto's can chirp 2nd gear bonestock. But in this case I'll say my driving skills beat his, I'm another driver would have kicked my ***. Especially off the line given my handicap (150k mile clutch).

heh heh, I remember smoking my first stang, of course it was a 5.0 vert, and probably was an auto too cause I was stock at the time, but it still made me feel great!

you beat a car with 100 more hp and ft/lb of torque then you?? and has rwd? from a start? seems a little far fetched, unless russ slipped a turbo into that sentra. it was definitely a gt?

Not that far fetched at all. As has been discussed on this BBS for years, the mid to late 90's, 4.6 litre Moostangs are not all that fast. Plus the corn-vertables are considerably heavier than the coupes. A 16 second car could take a stock 4.6 convert. I raced a 4.6 coupe a couple of weeks ago, spotted it a half car length off the line (due to my crappy lauch) and was 2 car lenghts ahead of it when I reached for 3rd.

As we know, the hp and torque numbers that get printed in the sales brochures do not tell the entire story. A 2001 Cadilac Fleetwood Brougham with the Northstar 32-valve V8 makes 320 horsepower, but you could get out of your Max and run to 60 faster than that thing. Plus, IIRC, the 1st gen of that 4.6 V8 was only rated at around 220hp(?).
