Just ran the VIN, that car was originally a Stirling Mist SE w/charcoal leather & Bose. At least they got the color right! A lot of those cars had Dealer-installed Nissan accessory woodgrain.

Ok guys check this out.
1: I'm thinking this is a Early model 99 b/c the later 99z were SE-L ..
2: If this car was rebuilt, Look at the odd combo. The front door panal. The panal is offwhite, but grille is black .. Now let say he did put new panals on it. Why would he change the grille??? The grilles are screwed on from the back side. why would you go through the trouble to unbolt matching grilles to put black ones on.
3: About the tweeter on the A-Piller, I am thinking thats factory. B/c if he was to move the tweeter from Doors to Pillers, He would need new tweeters, wires, ontop of the panal itself. Look at it this way, the 99 SE-L has tweeters on doors but the 2K has it on pillers.. So Nissan trying things out I guess, what sounds best???
4: somthing about the wood trim doesn't add up. I have had 2 4th Gen SEs with wood trim. On mine, The door switches, center dash, AC control everything was Wooded. This car it looks like the Front Vents are missing the Wood but the Doors have them? You would think all the parts that the eye sees would be wooded up front.
5: Lets say this car was wrecked or total loss. Why change the Carpet? How often you see a car with its carpet get messed up?? on a 99 Too, thats really odd, this car would really had to be messed for them to change the carpet to match the seats...
here's my take on this. I think this car may have just been built like this. Or the owner went through a lot of trouble to make this car what it is.. Even the wood pieces missing on the Dash, I can see where they can be Option from Nissan and the Owner chose not to have those put on ?? I don't know.. Just my .02 cents

Can someone explain to me exactly what a salvage vechicle is? I have a good idea, but would like something concrete. To the best of my knowledge it is a vechile that is a total loss because it has sustained so much damage in some way that it can't be repaired. Cost effectively or safely, I don't know which. If either one is the case, why do people rebuild and sells these cars? I think it should be illegal to do, if it isn't. All it does is destroy consumer confidence in the used car market and is just poor practice. Enough venting for now.

It really looks to me like this car had a black interior, and someone swapped the intererior with an older (96) I-30. The leather is too light for to be GLE leather I think. The black dash, speaker grills, and door handles give away the color. It does have a 97+ climate contorl unit, but a 96 Bose Stereo. The wood trim on the center console says GLE or I-30. But I think that is all that is wood. I think that the power window switches are black, not wood.
Lastly, the carfax that was run on this car showed that it was salvaged. Maybe a fire inside? Could also be a flood, but then you would expect a flood history.

guys,
you have good eyes on the interior, but no one had spotted the difference in the paint shade on the right side...I mean the right rear quarter panel and the rear door are freshly painted.
This fact indicates that it had been in a serious accident w/frame damage. A confirmation of that is on the Carfax report, where is says that it was sold as a salvage car. At the auto auctions, cars with structural damage (frame) fixed or not, are sold at the separate bay, they cost less, and they are not eligible for any wtty, sold "as is". From what I see, some do-it-yourselfter bought this car with a smashed rear for half-cheap, fixed it up, and now is selling.
Also, the car has a repainted front bumper, which is not a big deal. The difference in mismatched interior trim pieaces is not significant, the interior is still very sound. Looking @ interior, this car is in good shape for '99. The mileage is also of no concern.
To be safe, the potential buyer would have to take this car to a shop to perform an alignment check..and compare the printout against specs.

Salvage does not necessarily mean damaged. It could also be a theft recovery with no major damage, and just interior parts ripped out.
