Everyone, please read!

Jeez man, all the haters on the board! Where did they come from?

Almost every person on the .org that has a sig pic could be picked on! Man, people's style and tastes vary! Jeez! The constructive posts, ala "have you thought of doing this," or "that is cool, but I would do this differently," sure those are welcome....but throwing the "R" word around at fellow maxima drivers that put time, thought, creativity, and money into trying to do something unique, or just something they like, is uncalled for!

I get so annoyed at how "young" and "honda-ish" the .org is getting...especially the 4th gen forum! I have been a member almost two years, and don't have many posts, but I have always loved coming here. Even when I sold my '96 and had a 99 Accord Ex and 95Teg GSR, I hung out here. Better people, more grown up, more civil, more thoughtful, more helpful. Even when I have been serious about my Honda's, I couldn't really enjoy the Honda web-boards like I have Maxima.org.

Maybe I am just getting older, but I don't think so. Others have voiced the same concern in recent months.

One of the biggest things that bug me are the comments like "that is so played out" or "dude, the trend is going this way now" suggesting that one should conform to it! Who cares where the trend is going! Are the people that say that going to follow the trend when the in thing is to put a 12" lift on a Maxima?? (Not really likely, I know.) I remember when the hottest topic on here was "Can we get APC to make Altezzas for us??" There was an email campaign going! But now the "trend" has changed, and if you don't conform and bag the Altezza idea, you are so uncool! I don't understand it!

Even some of the Moderaters behave this way, and it is dissapointing.

Maybe I am alone, maybe not. But I think other long term members of the .org are getting a little fed up with the immaturity of it too!

I feel you........

I know just what you mean. I feel the same way when I read some post and to me it dosent make any sense. Like you said they spent there
money and why should they listen to someone else. Like altezzas some like them some dont, dosent mean you should get them because someone said its the new thing to do. Spend your money the way you want, fix your max/car the way you want. Some people have bad taste why follow them jus follow yourself and what you like.

I personally have stopped telling people what looks good and what doesn't. Cause I get flamed back for not being open-minded enough. And if I do give a personal opinion on what looks good or not, I make sure to let them know that it's a personal opinion. And I am entitled to my own opinion.

But it's inevitable in a car forum where we have so many people with so many different opinions on subjects. Especially with people signing up everyday.

But I agree with people needing to grow up. But what you going to do? You'll drive yourself crazy trying to please everyone.

Of course it's well said. Why you think I'm a moderator?

btw, I was gonna mention this to you. You think you could have those pictures in your sig go horizontally instead of vertically? It sorta takes up a lot of space when going up and down. Or photoshop them into one pic.

Well some mods are just plain idiotic and dumb. "Being different" is not an excuse to put every lame mod on your car.

You have to remember, if someone asks about a mod or if a mod on their car looks good/bad, then don't get upset if someone thinks it looks like crap. It's a public board.

If someone truely doesn't car about other's opinions, then they really shouldn't post something about it. I think alot of people do this. It's not like people are digging up someone's pic and then starts in on the bashing. It's when someone asks about a mod and then can't handle the replies it gets.

Hmm maybe this is not what you were looking for in a reply but that's what came to mind.

Well, I agree with you to a certain point. I have been a member for a relatively short time. I truly enjoy the board and have met some cool people (My SE forum guys and some others). I found tons of new info on my beloved max and found some very helpful opinions that have saved me time, money, and headaches when doing upgrades. I do agree that some people are very quick to flame and make themselves to be "all knowing", but for the most part if someone posts a well addressed question most of the time .org members are quick and accurate to respond. I have gotten the typical "go search" answers myself, but I found (after getting over the initial reaction)is that once I did do the search one of two things happened: I either found the answer and a ton more that was very helpful or I didn't find the answer and asked again. I can understand your frustration because I too am probably one of the oldest members (probably) posting and have little patience for smart *** remarks, but I have found that for the most part this forum is the most informative and friendly of the others. I think you have raised a good point in that people reading this and other threads should be a little more tolerant of newbie questions and remember that they too were once a newbie.

well lets see......hers a simple equation.....

Poster A posts pic on Maxima.org and asks for opinions + Maxima.org is a public[b/] forum = Poster A recieves public[/b] opinion

I see it this way, if someone doesn't like your ****, then its plain and simple, they don't like it...some people just need to grow up and accept that, just cause "Johnny" doens't like whatever mod, I'm pretty sure you can maintain enough of your ego and composure to shrug it off....if you can take the heat, don't post the pic its that simple. PUBLIC FORUM = PUBLIC VIEWING/RESPONSE/OPINION....as long as it isn't racial or unecessary, you get the reaction you get!

Be constructive then. The tone that comes accross is "that sucks ***, dumbass, why the hell would you ever even THINK of doing such crap?!"
That is what you see ALOT of at superhonduh.org, hondasociety.com, honduh-tech.com, etc. I just don't like it.

Tell em it's not your thing, but be cool about it. Lots do that, and that is cool. That is really not what I am referring to.

The classic GOOD example is the guy that says "don't like it, but then again, I have Altezzas!" If opinions are asked for, express em, but be cool.

And respect a person's style, likes, and in many cases, budget.

yeah there is no excuse for that....but I rarely see that(at least in the 3rd gen forum), I mean I see it sometimes on the General forum(ie-the dual exhaust thread), but not enough that I'd call it a problem. most of the time I see "naw thats not my style" or "whatever floats your boat"....I'd never say someones mod looks like crap, but I will say if I like it or not and if it looks good to me, but as for name calling and derogatory(sp?) remarks, you won't catch me doing that...my favorite phrase is, "its your car, do what you want with it" that should settle all the arguments.

Opinions

I am a return member. I was here for a while lurking and gathering info, opinions and the like. I left cause I found the crowd a little harsher than I care for. I have to admit though, for the info I have found equates to several hundreds of dollars saved.

The time I left, I found some info on why my 98 squealed his belts in the morning. It wasn't every morning. Just when it was cool and the humidity was high particularly after it rained the night before. I found the answer here in a post which suggested the culprit was a bad bearing on the tensioner pulley. When I replied, I got flamed. I know. I know I should have come back and stood my ground. But, hey, the pulley is fixed and I didn't have to pay some guy $75/hour to jerk me around. I mean find the problem.

At any rate, I am back. I do enjoy the .org and appreciate the opinions. I doubt I will be dropping Max (yes, that's my 98's name)3 or 4 inches to impress the masses. I drive 83 miles round trip a day in DC. I like my nice soft springs and struts. I do not have custom wheels although I would love some one day. Max has treated me well. I have been a Nissan man for as long as I have been buying cars. I keep my eyes open at the others but I gotta say, if it ain't a Maxima, it ain't s**t!

Thanks again, guys. MAXIMA.ORG rocks.

If someone asks for an opinion they have to take the good with the bad, suck it up its only a web forum, and uhhh dont you mod your car to suit your tastes ??
I also find it particularly funny that other members come to the "aid" of someone recieving negative feedback .. all kinds of feedback are just that, not open invites to have fights.

There is a difference between negative feedback and just straight disrespect. Its so easy to disrespect someone on the forum but I bet 90% of you pansies wouldnt have the mouth to say that to the persons face. Just fake thugs mouthin off on the Internet because they are safe in their homes with their parents, None of that bashing goes on in person or at meets.

That's what the moderators are for. At least for the name calling

True, but then again, they didn't ask for someone's opinion in person either. But we should pretty much post in the same manner we would if talking person to person. For the most part 90% of the .org does. It's the 10% of the kiddies and the select few TOTAL JERKS here that take advantage of the internet wall. This board is ALOT better than most others I've visited.

Agreed. What you have realize tho is that the kids that were buying hon-duhs can now afford 4th gens. Then they get to this forum and act like morons. Then people like me look bad because I flame back (its in my personality unfortunately) because these kids are obnoxious. Basically what I'm saying is that I feel your pain, but you have to think and realize that it's just because some of the obnoxious kids have decent taste in cars and instead of buying a honda, they can now afford the 4th gens. We'll all live, I know I just need to learn to bite my tongue more often

I like when people post, "Tell me what you think." And then they get all emotional and post rebuttles like 'If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything.'

But didn't you just ask me what you thought?

Some people can't seem to make a decision on their own. They need someone else to tell them what rims to buy (something that is a personal preference).

I personally like it when someone challenges my the appearence of my car or my opinions, it just makes the board a bit more exciting.

Moral of the story...some of you need to get a life

Nickstam,

Lets be serious for a second. If I ask you what you think of something and you dont like it you can say. Oh thats not my style or i dont like it but whatever floats ya boat ...etc etc.
But if you come at me like Thats the ugliest POS stupid looking ricey piece of trash in the continental united states and you should be shot for putting it on.. Thats just you going out of your way to be hurtful. If a friend asked you wat u think of my new girlfriend and she was butt ugly, u wouldnt tell him that youd be like shes ok or even no comment.... Anything else might just get ya jaw rearranged.

I don't go as far as saying 'you should be shot,' but I don't have a problem saying that 'I think that is ugly, and I would never do it to my car.' Maybe you're are not as comfortable with your friends as I am, but my freinds know that I have different tastes in women than they do, so they don't have a problem with me saying, 'you can keep her,' or ' I wouldn't touch her with a 10ft pole attached to a 5ft pole . It's not really an issue, especially if they ask my opinion. I guess it's all about how comfortable you feel.
