350Z engine parts swap to a 2K2 Maxima
350Z engine parts swap to a 2K2 Maxima
While I realize there are diffences in these engines, will some of the parts (such as cams, pistons, ECU, etc) swap out into the 3.5VQ Maxima? I'd be interested in undertaking such a project but wonder of the feasibility of it.

I doubt they're different internally. Per Nissan's own ads on the Z, Alt, Max, G35, G35 coupe they never fail to mention "tuned intakes" or "tuned exhausts".
As i posted in a previous thread, given the Maxima as an example. When WillSE installed an RT Cat and Intake he gained pretty much a 270hp rating at the crank (calculated from the 230hp/tq he put to the wheels).
That's already Z/G35 power territory.
It's already pretty apparent, the VQ35DE engine makes the same power on each car and is mostly de-tuned both physically and from a marketing standpoint according to the platform it's going into.
If anything, you're probably better off hoping for a Turbo (goes into the Z sometime next year or so) or an SC straight from Nismo - that will also fit on the 2k2 Max engine bay.

Yes, technically, as does the Altima, Pathfinder, I35, G35, etc. The difference lies in how the engine is tuned. I would assume the Z comes with more agressive cams and the like for higher end power.

SuDZ
Is there a rear diff and transmission for rear wheel drive in a 2011 maxima??. I'm thinking about doing a swap to rear wheel drive. Never seen 1. Does anybody know what would work and fit in my car? To make that worth? I have to go to the bathroom but how dare you tap me?
Ummmmm, what?
