ECU From a 2000 Max to 98 Max

The 2000 Max has 215 HP rigth? I was wondering if you could take the ECU from the 2000 MAx and put it in a 98 Max to give it more HP?
The reason I'm askin this is the 2000 motor is the exact same as the 98, so what the H*** makes the 2000 have more HP?

The variable intake is one of the main reasons the 2000/2001s have more hp than the 4th gens. Check out the GD for more info.

As for an ECU swap yes its possible. I am not sure if one has been made for the 98s yet but jwt is definetly making ECUs for the 95 & 96s. Pretty expensive but for the $ you pay its a nice HP increase.
