Y pipe question

Does anyone know if it is normal for a 2 1/2 Y pipe to have these dimensions?

2 inch down piping and 2 1/2 back from the welds?? I am just a little confused and want to figure out if I got F***ed. I thought it was supposed to be 2 1/2 all the way back???

Sounds like your pipe was non-mandrel bent.

It makes sense to me. whos y-pipe is it? There is less exhaust coming from either bank of 3 cylinders than there is when both banks are combined at the end of the downpipes, so smaller diameter makes sense.

It is a warpspeed pipe. Your theory does make sense to me, I just wanted to see if anyone has actually measured as well. I was confused because the flow from, 2 1/2 from the top would be better, but maybe there are physical limitations due to header size??? If that is the case then even with 3 inch you would still have 2 from the top.

Re: Re: Re: Y pipe question

Oh, I misread your question. I thought you meant smaller diameter through the bends, not from the exhaust manifold down.

WSP y-pipe

The actual size of manifold outlet is a little less than 2". Dallas and I are working on several different configurations, such as honing out the outlet and then use 2.25 down pipes and then using 2.75 from plenum back. This will be for a supercharged car. Who knows? It might work for n/a cars as well.
maxman00 call Dallas or e-mail him, we want to talk top you.

I am not sure what you meant here??

So what you are saying is that because of the manifold outlet size, the down pipes will always be 2" unless you can hone the manifold outlet out?
