Need to slow down BIG BRAKES!

Now I have spent quite a bit of money in speeding up my Maxima, I need to have good stuff to slow it down.

I have searched the org for big brakes and such. Now my head is hurting! What is a reasonable set up? Wilwoods are a little expensive for me right now. What would it cost and take for a 300ZX brake system? Is that a good alternative? Should I just get cross-drilled, slotted rotors and upgrade pads? I am looking to spend no more than $600-$700 on the brake system.

Thanks

Nigel

Well on fastbrakes.com you can get that BBK that works with stock calipers for like under 500. Where you looking to replace rotors all around or just the front?

try to get the new kit that they're talking about on www.maximaforum.com
its about 900 bucks well worth it if it works as well as it should

the 300Z upgrade... isnt anything too special...

I have the Stillen/APs and I am VERY satisfied with their performance

spend the money and get a real upgrade

I would use the 300z brakes only in conjuction w/ the Mitsu rotor/bracket kit. I think for the hp you have already, you need the biggest/baddest brakes you can get. I think the Willwood kit is probably the cheapest "big" brake kit out there. At least do that. Even the 300z w/ bracket kit will end up being $600 anyway.

When we upgrade out brakes should we do anything all around or just the fronts? Is there any options for us for the back?

I would probably get the Wilwood upgrade, but I don't think it fits stock rims. So I would have to buy 17" rims as well as the big brakes? Are there alternatives to this until I can afford both the rims, tires and big brakes?

Invest in a set of Goodrich steel braided brake lines, I think they are like 60 bucks, and some good DOT 3 or 5 brake fluid. Best brake mods for the money. with STOCK pads and rotors, just the upgraded lines and fluid, I felt a NIGHT AND DAY difference in braking distance, brake fade, and pedal feel. Couple this with a set of good pads and you should be stopping quite well until you can afford a big brake kit. Total cost should run you around 120 bucks? Best of all, you wont have to replace these items later and can use them with whatever brake kit you choose.
