Just got my 0APR credit card, help me choose wheels!

Guys I have a limit of 1200 to spend. There are many choices out there, but I am not sure what would look good on my sunlit sand 2000 GXE.

Want to go either with 17"s or 18"s, and I like the shine. No gheto styles though. I need to call my order in within a week.

You will still have to pay that money back. The 0% APR won't last forever. It's a loan!!! Use it for something better than 'show'.

I have to agree. The CC companies make it way to easy to overspend.
I am all for enjoying life but I hate credit card debt or any debt for that matter. I am still in denial about having a car payment again after 5 years

Depending on the color of the car I really like 17" SSR Competitions.

I know, its only on balance transfers and until Jan 2003. By charging 1100, I may save me 70 bucks on the interest, I will pay it off well before.

I choose not to spend more than 1100-1200 because thats the value I am willing to place on wheels/tires..c'mon my car is only 21 grand. No SSR's. Enkei, Konig, Tenzo, Racing Hart (maybe), Maxxim, lower-end scale brands.

Here's the moral of the story--it's time to play VP and Treasurer of your own funds. 0% is a no-brainer--someone else is telling you that you can use their money for free. Why not take it for a rainbow ride? Buy the rims and make yourself happy.

Also, make the terms clear in your head. If the 0% runs out in November, make sure you pay it off. All of this advice is contingent upon your having some income, none of this your pulse is your credit BS.

So using round numbers, if you take home 2000 every 2 weeks, should you buy a set of rims for 4000 with 0% interest? Of course not. How about rims that cost $1000? Why not, it's 0% and you got 6 months. Just don't cheat yourself--if you know you can pay it before the offer runs out, enjoy yourself.

You said no ghetto rims, well the TGF AX that I have fits that bill. They resemble your 15" wheel covers, only they're 18" x 8" and when you look closely they have a nice silver painted finish. $129 is cheap. Good luck, use your head and you wont go wrong.

i don't know if you said no enkei because of usual price or if you don't like the rims themselves, but the set of rims from enkei that i really like are the Enkei CDR9s...you can get them at whalentire 17" wrapped in Falken tires (forgot which one) for about 1100...shipped, and including lug nuts, locks, and warranty on tires...little bit less if you take off the warranty on tires and the locks

uhm, no those are some of the brands that I want to go with.

Frank Fountaine, thanks for advice. I dont think I want something that resembles my hubcaps. Where can those TGF rims be found so I can take a look at them?

97BlackMax: I really like these as well as other Enkei wheels, however they are a bit on the heavier side..

Guys, I need to know what will look good on sunlit sand 5th gen.

Peeps I can go with 18"s on certain wheels, too..

My SSR's are for sale. I'm asking more than your budget, but these are high quality wheels and in great shape. Shoot me an email if interested. I'm in NYC.

no, as I mentioned above, I do not care about high-line wheels. Also, I would not buy used, only brand new with wtty, thats the only way to go.

Racing Hart S-15s all the way baby...

S15
I'm guessing about $1400 with tires shipped. Also look into the new C5s, although they're not as nice as the old ones they really do look good. I also reccomend C2s and CP-035s but they are much more.

friends, PLEASE post info where I can buy those you're suggesting...

This shiet is gonna kill me, nothing is more exhaustive as searching for the right wheels. Hopefully I dont end up getting some POS

My upper limit is $1200/shipped. I just found Mille Miglia Evos 17's with Sumitomo Z-rated 235x45R17 tires shipped to my door (tirerack.com).

From tirerack.com there are following rims I liked
in 17" Mille Miglia Evo5, MM11-2, Spider
in18" ASA JS5; Sport Edition Fox2, Fox5, Tekno

anyone knows these wheels?

I just checked out your 2k GXE with the TGF AX in Sunlit, and it looks sweet!

http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_gara...&autoYear=2000

It doesn't literally look like your wheel covers, but it basically has openings along the edge. But through the opening you see the brakes and the width of the 8" rim.

Try www.tirerack.com and you'll see the TGF AX the 3rd from the last. you can filter by 18" too. I'm serious, they're a steal at $129, they used to be $309 3 years ago.

No problem, we should all spread our experiences around so nobody has to waste $$.

Right now IMHO the style is for more spokes than 5. I myself shy away a little from those 5-spokers with the skinny spokes because they look really aggressive--I'm afraid of theft, so I don't mind something that's a little retro.

I saw a Diamante last week with 19's--the 5-spoke rims were probably really light, but the spokes were so small it made the brake hardware almost naked!

VERY sweet! I like the fatter spokes too. 18x8 is definitely the way to go. Now can I talk you into some Sumitomo HTR+ for $131? I'm tired of the Kuhmo camp always winning

BTW where did you see 22 lbs?

I called the tirerack.com and spoke to the sales guy. He said 22 lbs, and I couldn't believe it.

Re: tires, tirerack doesnt a big selection. I have read reviews...Kumhos wear out fast, Dunlops are noisy as hell..Do you have experience with Sumitomo HTR+? Will those last me under normal conditons 30,000 mi?

ok, I have made my decision re: wheels. They are 18x8 Sport Edition Teknos. Now I have to choose tires. There are 3 different ones on tirerack that I could afford: Kumhos, Dunlops, and Sumitomos. The Dunlops are cheapes at $112/each and Sumitomos are most expensive at $131/each. I rather spend 60 more bucks now to get a quieter and longer lasting tire ..so give me input on a tire choice. Thanks guys for all your help.

Those are definitely sweet rims.

Anyway, the reason I got the Sumitomo HTR+ is that they are an all-season tire. Yep, even though they're 18" they're all-season, with a treadwear of 360 and traction rating of AA. WR rated too which is kinda irrevelant with our Maximas because we wont be doing 168 mph anyway.

I would have gone for the Yokos because they are some of the best rubbers (hehe) tout le monde, but only an A rating for traction if I recall and $30 more each corner (wha avs db or something).

To tell you da truth your selections for tires are all good, but as I said before at this time I prefer Japanese rubbers to Korean or Chinese. My Sumitomo got punctured when it was new but the kind folks in Swarthmore plugged it. PHEW!!! If you're gonna swap tires summer/winter then maybe look at Goodrich Kid Rocks. hehe

thanks for all your help and putting up with me

yes, I am going to swap my 15" steelies back on for the winter period. I went with Kumhos since it is the most talked about tire here on .org.
