Warning to all SC owners
Warning to all SC owners
Last night while swapping pulleys, I noticed a pretty large amount of oil on the underbody liner after jacking up the car. After closer inspection, I noticed there was oil all over the side of the engine bay (opposite side of the crank pulley). The trail of oil lead to the supercharger itself!
After taking off the pulley, I noticed there were a few hex screws that were VERY loose... loose enough to be hand turned. So the next time any of you pull off your SC, make sure all the screws are tight!
I've included a picture of which ones were loose:

I have to remove my S/C, to get some seals replaced and Ill have the S/C for about 2 days and see if the screws are tight or not if not Ill just use loctite and tigten them up. Good post and thanks for watching out for all of us, with V2.

But you could drill the heads of the screws, and lockwire them.

Like I said, it may be overkill...

It took me over a year to find an oil leak on my car and it wasn't SC at all. It was the power steering hose that loops towards the front of the car for cooling purposes? Anyway, the hose was looped 180 deg and tiewrapped. Where the hose had started to crack and was seeping pwr steering fluid. Oviously it was by small drops initially, but I didn't find out about it till my steering fluid level drop to the level where I can hear the steering when I turn.
I ended up cutting the hose and inserting a looped brake line. No more oil leaks!!
I am just glad that it wasn't the bolt that kev was describing. Our SC's are such a pain in the butt to take out. Why couldn't Stillen design is so that we don't have to take the whole thing off in order to just change the belt???

Lock wire is probably overkill. I "think" it's traditionally used to prevent LOOSING a bolt/nut. Not necessarily to keep that particular bolt/nut TIGHT. Plus every time you did something, you would have to cut and rewind the wire. Cool idea though.
I still think using one of the Locktite brands would be the best. It seems like the bolts are coming loose due to vibration. The Locktite would help prevent it and dampen the vibrations on the bolts. But as DanNY said, I wouldn't recommend the strongest one or else you will have a hell of a time getting it back off. Also be carefull when using the Loctite, you don't want to contaminate the oil by getting Locitite in the SC. ie.. dab some on there and maybe wait about a min or so before screwing the bolt in.
