Put this crap to rest (long)

Ok, I've been around for about a year or so. I know I don't know all thats to know about these maximas. I'm under no illusions that these 2 cars can be compared because they are 2 different cars, with 2 differen't bodies weight and mods.

This is the situation, I talk to a buddy EVERYDAY about how he thinks his max is faster, but not quicker than his.
His Setup-Automatic with Berk POP charger, factory rims and Nitto tires and rubber floor mats.
My setup-5spd with Custom CAI, WSP Ypipe, Carsound cat, Greddy exhaust, stock bbs rims and yokohama tires...and stock floor mats he he he.

CARS @ stock set ups.
00 SE-222bhp and 217lbs of torque weighs 3199lbs.
99 t-190bhp and 205lbs of torque weighs 3147lbs.

TRACK SENSE:
On the 1/4 mile I know that I have his **** to hand to him at the end of the track. my 14.7@94 vs his 15.6@??

REALITY:
What about the rest of road? with a second on him and probably 6mph(maybe) where will he catch up? (dont give me "at the road block" flame ***** post) He has speculated a 147+ top speed to the 5th gen auto's. I don't know anyone who has topped out there I30's on a track or "PIKE" to find out.

I know there will be a fare amount of "just race him and shut up" flames here, so please refrain. I did do a search on similar subjects and couldn't find one that has variable that are close enough to do this.

Let me also say, I know that the 5th gen with these mods would be a better comparison, but he's my friend and he has what he has and I have what I have. So lets just keep our facts to what is written. Thanks.
Louie

Jasons getting to you huh?? why not just settle on our way up to Carlisle??? I think you'll have the advantage though, depending on what speed you go up to shouldn't your having one more gear give you the extra mile, so to say!? and plus you drive like a maniac anyways(this past Saturday ) I dunno, not too familiar with the 5th gen autos, but after riding in Jason's car last weekend it does have good pull in the high Rpm, I'll say that much!!

I dont think the 5th gen autos have a 147 mph top speed. Weren't the 5spd 5th gens limited to like 143mph?

The 5spd 4th gen should win almost any kind of race that I can conceive of, especially with an intake/Y-pipe set up. The only auot that could give you trouble is a 2K2 auto.

i think the 143 limit was said about the 2k2s. i dont think it was about the other 5th gens. i could be wrong though.
i was bored tonight so i took my car out at about 2:30 and started driving. i wanted to see what the 2k2s were ACTUALLY limited at for sure but i only got up to 137 and came across a bend in the road so i shut it down. a few mins after shutting down my radar detector went off so i was too paranoid to try again. maybe some other time.

Yeah, I tried that too. I got to 141 in 5th at around 5200rpms. It pulled relatively hard up until that point, but once it reached 141, it just stopped. I think they are governed since the OEM tires are V rated to 149mph. I doubt Nissan would let the 2K2 accelerate to its theoretical top speed (past 150) with rubber only good to 149.

I raced NC00 Max somewhere in VA Beach

and he topped out ~133 in his Auto. My highest speed is estimated(since my speedo ends at 140) at 147 so far so you should be above that, IMHO.

Well Da-max I didn't want to name any names. I guess you all were able to see through the smoke though. I'll take him up to 140+, but I understand that the risk of imprisonment when we get busted is more than he wants to risk. I honestly was begining to wonder at what point would he up in my face again having a more power in his car. Well I don't know if he has more power since he hasn't dyno'd.

Russ let me add...IF YOUR CAR CAME w/ 16" Factory wheels, you are limited to 130mph.

Autos are limited to 130-133.

4th gen autos, some were, some weren't.

4th geb stick, not that I know of.

-I'm no longer limited

irvine78, a stock auto has the gearing to do it, but the problem is getting around the limiter, but the Apexi RSM gets around that no problem.

I give up

Louie is right, I do talk some smack sometimes. I was referring to an advertisement I saw at the local nissan dealer that they put on the display car, touted a 147mph top speed, didn't distinguish tranny type. I am not gonna test my car's top speed on the highway. I tested my 95 SE's top speed and it ran 142ish top end, I will never do that again, I almost lost my life. Plus other people are on the highway, it is a stupid idea and I will never do it again.

I concede that my car is slower than Louie's and possibly has a lower top speed. Lets move on and get my car dropped and it will handle great and outrun most cars on the road.

End of discussion, Clee please lock this thread!!
