WOW!!! Wheel/tire size REALLY does make a difference!!!
WOW!!! Wheel/tire size REALLY does make a difference!!!
We did some testing for baseline runs before we started adding the turbo kit to my Max. Prior to yesterday, my best 1/4 time in NA form was 14.33 (quite some time ago). That was with my Dazz Matiz in 18 X 8.5 form. Well, those are sold now so I tried some runs with different wheels.
17 X 8 SSR Comp's and 18 X 7.5 Volk TE 37's ran consistent 14.08 -14.12's and 14.15 - 14.22's respectively. These were the fastest I've ever run in NA form.
Then, for grins, I tried with Tai Mai Shu's 16" OEM Infinity wheels with the almost bald 215/55 Bidgestones and still ran a 14.28! WTF!!!
I thought that I was good with my 23 lb. Dazz, but now I see that as light and pretty as they were, compared to these others, they were boat anchors. I'm still running with the Infinity wheels and even this morning, these seem more responsive from 80 to 120 than my old 18's.
Anyone else have any experiences like this? It couldn't be that my engine is MORE broken in? WTF!?!

I may need to go to a SSR Competition I know that would help some what improve my times. So far my best time with 18s was a 14.6
but I dont have funds for new 17s at the moment
