Hello,

I have a friend who recently purchased a used Maxima. He loves it but is unable to locate a source for his door codes. I told him I would look on the Internet sor some help. Can anyone point us in the correct direction in resetting or matching the codes. Are they re settable?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, got them.....

but the IVMS (In Vehical Multiplexing System) consisting of the BMC (Body Control Module) and five LCU'S (Local Control Units) covers many pages of my 1996 Factory Service Manual and uses both the dome light and Nissan's Consult code reader to diagnose power lock, windows, alarm, airbag, sunroof and who knows what else. And yes at least some are resetable. I've reset the airbag on my 96SE.
Since we are leaving for a trip in a few momments, I don't have time now to get into the topic. I'll be back probably by Wednesday and if you still need the info, e-mail me at kramraap@mindspring.com and I'll try to dig the codes out of the FSM. BTW you didn't say what year the Maxima is. Codes may change a little between years and generations.

Mark

I am assuming that your friend bought a pre 95 Maxima that has the keyless entry doorpad and that is what you are trying to reset.

I know that it is possible to reset it and program your own code. . . I know the that the code to reset the code is on a sticker somewhere under the dash near the steering column. I read this on a webpage at some point and it explained how to do it step by step, but I can't find the address. . . I am sure someone here would probably know the site if this is the info you are seeking. You may also want to post this on the 3rd Generation part of this forum as they would be the people that would be most likely to have the answer to this.

You could try Kaleb's website (http://www.kalebonline.com) or Andi's Maxima site (http://www.boostaholic.com) for starters.
