M5 Jive

I was in Orinda today on San Pablo Dam road and passed an M5 in traffic. Right before the road goes from 4 lanes to 2, I saw him coming up fast; sure enough, he cuts me off by crowding the shoulder. Since the speed limit drops there from 45 to 25, and there are often cops lurking, I let him go. Well, no cops, and this guy blew through the next red light as well, so I'm already dissing him. I finally catch up to him at the next red light, with nothing but country road ahead. I'm way back, doing 35 and the light goes green, and this idiot just sits there ... by the time he gets moving, I'm doing 15 mph about 5 feet from his bumper. As soon as I saw his exhaust puff, I hit the gas. I stayed with him to about 70, then he started pulling away ... slowly ... At 90 I shut down, not because he had such a lead, but because I had my kid in the car, so didn't want to be too crazy. Besides, I could see we were about to run into a line of traffic up ahead, and I know there's another speed trap in that area. This guy couldn't drive. He was all over the road, kind of jerky across both left and right lines at every speed. He seemed the kind of driver I'd like to see at an autocross to give a whupping in his expensive machine.

well the M5 gave him a head start...line them up side by side with equal starts and there will be no "keeping up" on the Maximas part

The m5 wanted to see how bad he could beat you starting out in 2nd gear. After reading your post I was looking for the s/c mod in your sig...it wasnt there. I've driven a 2000 M5 serveral times, and that car pulls to redline in 2nd, almost as ours does in first. They have a 0-60 in under 5sec. Their back ends are sweet, wouldnt you agree?

It wasn't much of a head start ... I was on my brakes to not rear end him till he got on the gas ... I figure if he'd been able to drive a straight line he'd have pulled out faster. You know how y'all saying how much difference the driver makes. Well ...

I will admit around 60 mph wishing I had that SC
