Red / clear tails - already came stock on Maximas??? maybe... check this out!---->
This was posted as a reply to a post in the 4th gen forum (link: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....2&pagenumber=2 ) regarding red/clear tails, by a new member "02SM520":
Now tell me that those tails do not look exactly like 97-99 ones.
But these came stock, and they look a whole lot better then any red/clear tail light job can be done IMHO.
here is the 2001 Samsung SM520 (Korean 95-99 Max)
http://www.skencar.co.kr/catalog/kor...ges/line02.gif
although the trunk is a little different in layout, the tail lights look very close.....
This would be a whole lot cheaper then buying them for 190$ new. The outer tails are just 50$ for both. The problem is we have to pay for shipping from Korea.
If someone can get a whole lot of them at dealer price and re-sell them here in U.S. it would be really cool and I'm sure people rather buy factory made tails which are actually visible when the turn signal is on in the day time. This ofcourse, only if they are a direct fit... which they look like from here.

Hello Maxima owners...
I am new to this Maxima stuff..
Anyway I saw everyone is interested on Clear/Red taillights..
I own 2001 Samsung SM520.
Which is same car as 95 ~ 99?
model of Nissan Maxima. Interior is same / Exterior is little
different and we also have Nissan SR engine as option.
SR 1.8L - 4 cylinder
SR 2.0L - 4 cylinder
VQ 2.0 - V6
VQ 2.5 - V6
VQ 3.0 - V6 (Same engine as USDM version) only two are made so far ... for SM530 Limusine version.
Anyway. As I checked the pictures of the taillights and it look almost same as my SM520 taillights. Yup.. We have Regular red/clear taillight for 98 - 2001 model and starting from 2002 Clear.. Clear red / clear taillights .. also for the headlights too.. (Which means.. you see throu the lenses..)

That looks like a very interesting option for new tail lights. It would make our car look more like an I30. Do you know how much it would be for all 4 lamps? I don't think it would look right with just the outer lenses because it wouldn't match the inside lights very well.

I doubt they'll fit.
The Samsung SM520V (SM520, SM525V, or SM530V...) is a copy of the Cefiro, license-built by Samsung... I assume.
It might fit an I30, but probably not a Maxima.
Compare:

i wouldnt get your hopes up on this. the shape of the tail lamps is very similar to our 4th gen tail lamps, but notice the way the top part slopes. the SM tails dont angle downward at the top like ours do.

well, according to the guy and the currency exchange rates, the inner tails are 20 US dollars a piece and outer ones are 25$.. so that's 90$ for all 4 pieces I wonder how much shipping from Korea can cost on such items, but still... I much rather pay 200$ for these things, then say the red/clear tails from custommaxima.com (not to knock on his business, i love the guy.. ) just saying. These are like diamond cut red/clear tails.
The pieces seem to be almost exact, except they are slightly more angular, still very close though.....
If anyone is willing to take sacrifice 90$ + shipping and try them out..... that's the only way to find out... maybe even Greg, Jeff, Phoung, Alex or who ever else runs a business can try this out..

Well the price sounds reasonable, and it would definitely be easier to fit these in the Maxima than some of the taillight conversions I've seen in the past. I'm not up for it now, but maybe someday

other intresting things:
Looks pretty cool, although those colors don't float my boat.. Look at the direct replacement gauge cluster piece and all the dashboard pieces.. it is not a stick-on kit. This would look 10X cleaner... And that looks identical to a 4th gen, no question about that.
90$ for FOUR taillight pieces even if shipping would be like a 100$, 190$ for 4 taillight pieces is a hell of a lot cheaper then you can buy 4 pieces in US even used at a junkyard. If only these things fit, it would be a great bargain and a very nic mod. The trunk just looks different but the actual tails themselves are very, very close. The headlights sparked my interest too.. 180$ for a pair of 1 piece headlights... not too shabby.

I tried browsing the site, but I can't read Korean Are there any prices listed for the dash kits? I'm not a huge fan of the wood, but it's one of the only things that looks good in a tan interrior car. It looks like it would be better than the dash kits currently available too.

im still 90% sure they wont fit on any US maxima of any year. (95-95 had the same shape as the 97-99 except the 95-96 had a crease in them). they do look like they would fit into a cefiro/ i30 with no problem.

Those tail lights look identical in shape to 98-99 I30's, the only difference is the outer ones don't have the little red reflector on the sides(same as cefiro ones). The headlights look the same as the cefiro ones except there smoked so I don't think they will fit either. Look at how the headlight braket's are designed, they dont have the mounting pieces for the grill.

I ask again though ... are we basing the fact that they will fit simply by the pictures or has somebody actually held one up to their car.
Pictures are a very very poor way to judge whether it will fit or not.
If someone wants to take the plunge and buy a set and compare, I'm sure everyone will be grateful.

Well if they do fit the I30, they wouldn't look very good.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but the center piece of our trunk is countoured in the center. This is why the cefiro corners don't look great with the 96-97 I30 center piece, there is also a color hue difference as well. The front headlights wont fit the I30, the corners of our lights angle up instead of down.
http://max-performance.net/images/SL...48_11_full.jpg
I think that the korean version does look good but from pictures I think they will have problems with fitting properly. Also something to think about, why would you only buy the corners with out matching trunk lights?
What I'm interested in is body kits? are there any available for this? I noticed that it has the same bumper as the I30, well not the same but it wraps from wheel well to wheel wll, which the max doesn't and the "I" does.
Now I'm mad for not turning down my Korea tour... damn

For those who missed the thread in the 4th Gen forum (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=118033), it appears there is a pair of these for sale on e-bay and the seller claims they will fit 98-99 Maximas (so I would assume 97 also).
Assuming they do fit the next question would be, does the reflector match the stock US one (or at least better than floresent light cover)? And if not - will the trunk lights fit?

Well, to add to this great find, I have literally seen a 97-99 Maxima that had the trunk of a 95-96. The outer tails were still 97-99, but the inner tail was 95-96. It fit perfectly. Given that, these Korean lights sound very very encouraging
Here's another dilemna, though. The backup lights for the 97-99 Max are not clear, but the amber tails of these lights are clear, so it would be a mixup if they were to come together.
Is it easy to make the backup lights clear on the 97-99 tails?? THen this would be great?
