Just wondering if there was anymore info on the

5th gen intake manifold to a 4th gen VQ?

The reason I ask is the ME VI is and illegal mod for the SCCA STS car class. And Looking at the dyno result the VI really helps power out past 5500rpms. Just we thought the VI would back in the summer of 2000.

Thanks for the info.

People talked about installing the 5th gen VI long ago, but nothing ever came of it. I believe biggest factor is that the 5th gen VI is ECU controlled. Maybe you could set it up to use a rpm switch, but so far the MEVI is the best option. My question to you is if the 5th gen VI is even legal for STS. I know you can exchange items from different years/models, but is a 4th/5th gen part swap legal?

Yes I would use a RPM switch to open the VI at ~5100 rpms. I'd love to get an ME VI but I don't want to run in DSP. It's all ready bad enough for the Maxima in STS, but DSP Nah.

Here's what is says in the SCCA handbook.

17.1. AUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS - STS
All Solo II Rules Stock Category allowances and the modifications that follow:
A. Equipment and/or specifications may be exchanged between different years and models of a vehicle if:
(1) the item is standard on the year/model from which it was taken,
(2) the years/models are listed on the same line of Appendix A (Street Prepared Classes)
The updated/backdated part or the part to which it is to be attached may not be altered, modified, machined, or otherwise changed to facilitate the updating/backdating allowance. The updating and/or backdating of engines, transmissions, or transaxles must be done as a complete unit as available from the factory, including those items required by emissions regulations for a particular configuration. Example: the Neon throttle body used on automatic transmission cars cannot be used on a manual transmission car. Component parts of these units may not be interchanged. Cars not listed in the Street Prepared sections of Appendix A may not be updated/backdated until approved by the SEB and published in SportsCar magazine.
Air conditioning systems may be removed in whole or in part. This rule should not be interpreted to allow modification of the heater system.

It looks like you can according to the rules. What I'm not totally clear in the the neon example. If that throttle Body came off a manual neon could it be used? Would we have to swap the intake manifolds from a manual 5th gen?

I don't really have the spare capital to spend on this mod just yet, but to sounds promising and looks to be legal. Maybe I'll try this next year. Now I'm trying to figure out what spring weights to order with the GC coilovers.

Here's some reading for you. Aparrantly the intake manifold would require much more work than the MEVi which is simply a bolt on.

I've already decided I'm going to run DSP so the MEVI works for me
