painting emblem

I want to paint my nissan and gle emblem black to match my car. Can I just get a can of primer and black paint? Do I need to do anything else? Advice is appreciated.

scotch brite pad to rough surface, prime, paint, clearcoat, glue.

I used some sort of glue adhesive i had lying around worked well your besr bet is a emblem tape (heavy duty 3m doublesided tape)
