Drove a 2K2 maxima

ok, so I got my chance at driving a new 2k2 maxima,

the guy who went with me, age 22, was into street racing - so at the light he is like "really, i encourage you to see what this thing's got, its a beast... have some fun, dont be afraid to reallly drive it" , haha - didnt take too much to get me to start burning the tires and squeeling 2nd..

they fixed all the stuff i like, such as auto-up and auto-down on all the windows, just little stuff like that is so nice.. its definately got more power , and one of my favorite things is this- at 3000rpm in 1st gear, you can let off the gas and get back on it, without the car jarring you and throwing you all around.. the suspension was nice and the steering was TIGHTER WOOOOHOOO. i liked it a lot, nice interior. good work nissan, keep it up.

anyways, my only dislike about the car was this.. when you floor it, say cruising in 4th 5th or 6th gear on the interstate, it hesitates just BARELY before it takes off... why is this?

I thinks it's got to be from the variable intake switching over as it always happens just shy of 3k rpm. My Frankencar intake fixed that problem. I know this to be a fact since I had the car stock for ~5000 kms - had the bog; put FC on from 5000 - 15000 kms - bog gone; put factory back in when the MAF blew - bog back; just reinstalled FC at 22000 kms - bog gone

It's an easy fix.

Maybe it's the drive by wire system. I drove my friends 2K2 6 speed, and when I really accelerated hard, between gear shifts, the rpms would stay near where they were, like around 5500 rpm, before I engaged the next gear to pull the rpms down. It wasn't a stuck throttle or anything. I tried it again and just waited for the egnine to come back down. It eventually did. Someone mentioned it being an emissions thing or something.

haha - yeah there are a lot of nice cars here and in lexington (where bmxsteve lives.. about 45min away) - after driving the M5, and my friends dad has both a viper rt10 and viper gts, NSX's, etc.. of course the maxima isn't like the best ride in the world- but i still LOVE it haha, as far as being fast - you just gotta keep a straight head, I mean I have a friend who has a street legal cobra that runs 10.3's on regular fuel.. and that is his daily driver, whenever i roll around with him, damn, everything feels slow, even my friends vipers. haha

nope, and actually - you might find this funny, the M5 still has expired '99 temporary tags from when it was picked up.. not too smart to be running it at 140mph or whatever, but they have yet to be pulled over in it, thats my favorite one of the bunch.. M5's are out of this world.

Yeah, this family is in LOVE with BMW's, and they have the money to be in love with them too. After drving the 00 M5 and the 2 M3, I like the M5 more. The m3 is sportier, but the powerband feels a lot better than the m3. It must be that 5.0l V8 that is pulling it along, instead of the straight 6 in the 3series. If anyone cares, I can scan some pics of them that i took of them lined up and washed. The only time the m5 usually gets washed is when it goes for an oil change every 2500 miles. They are a blast to drive, and now i have experienced why them come with a $70k price tag. Let me warn you guys, never drive one....you will bitc h and moan about your maxima forever when compared to the m5. The ride quality, finish, braking, handling, acceleration, top end, the headlights, blah blah and blah...

You said your MAF blew? Is that because of the FrankenCar intake? I got the intake, but still yet to install it on my car. Probably going to do it this weekend.

What was the reason your MAF blew? And did u get it fixed for under warranty?

Thanks.

I know, I parked next to one two days ago and didn't want to drive mine afterwards.

Gotta be the best four-door on the planet.
