I have an Avital with Remote Starter which I bought about 9 months ago for around 470. If I was to get an alarm now i would go with clifford G4. (avital is part of clifford).

i am not sure about the compatibility part but my cousin has a Q45 with the factory alarm (same as maxima) and another alarm as well. At times the factory alarm goes off but all you gotta do is stick the key in the door and turn.

Plus i am still looking for a Maxima so i don't know much aboout the Maxima alarms.

good luck

I just purchased the Sidewinder model 6500 with the remote start. This alarm is a family member of the viper. It's compatible with the factory remote. I also have a Multilock. Make em work hard for it

my alarm......

is a Viper 550 w/ remote start. I got it for $167 dollars including a 4% sales tax. I then installed it myself. Took me about for hours to do it but i was taking my time. I also installed one in a 99 Toyota Camry V6 and it took me only 2.5 hours. I also hooked up a remote trunk popper since my car is a GXE. No problems so far.

If you want a good Alarm go with DEI (They make Viper alarms and just took over Clifford). THey are the best of the best. You can also go with low-jac. I think like 90% of the vehicles are recovered. Just pray your's isnt the 10% that isnt found. hehe. I use a Clifford Concept 400. I worked at a car audio shop so install costed me nada (6 hours of labor w/ 2 guys) and the alarm itself costed me i think $155 or so w/ my discount. Mine is a starter & ignition & fuel pump kill. If you have the chip in the key (99's only i think) then that is also a fuel pump kill. It doesnt matter, that key is what helps finish off the curcuit to start the damn car. If you misplace both keys, your fu*ked in the ***, your car needs to be towed adn reprogrammed. So this is what i use when im in the city, the Clifford alarm, the factory alarm (i fart louder then that and putting a cat in the car works better then that damn thing), and "the club" though that does nothing either.

Well, I have a 99 with a Clifford Concept 600. I paid about $250 for the alarm with remote start and extra parts due to the chip in the key and a whole lot for labor. It works pretty well, but the proximity sensor is a bit too sensitive. I just keep turning it down one step at a time when I notice that it goes off too much. As far as compatibility goes, if the security system hasn't changed at all since 95 (except for the chip in the key), you shouldn't have any probs with just about any alarm. Both alarms work together. The factory alarm is automatically set when the doors are locked so when your aftermarket alarm locks the doors, both alarms are armed. Besides, the factory alarm only goes off if the hood is popped or if doors are opened. Not much of a security system if you ask me. My only complaint is that when I disarm the Clifford it takes about a second or two before the doors unlock. Kind of annoying, but I think it has something to do with the signal the alarm has to duplicate in order to unlock the doors. Anyone know of a way to make the doors unlock instantly?

My system was installed with an interface, and it unlocks the doors pretty much while the system is chirping.
