Stick - Long Throw?

do the stick Maximas have a longer throw than most cars (not trucks)? I just noticed it the other day when I drove a rented VW Jetta. The Jetta had a relatively short throw when shifting, then I got back in my beloved Max and noticed it was a longer throw, harder to make a smooth transition into the next gear.

Tips or anyone else that has noticed this?

(Have a 2k1 SE)

The max shift is about as close stock as a mac truck.

The Max is not that bad (about half of the throw in my Bronco II) You guys should try driving one of those Big *** Renta-Trucks with Sticks in them, now that is a long throw

believe me, I used to drive my dad's Isuzu Trooper, now that's a bear claw, throw that thing half a mile before you hit the next gear! Steering wheel also could be turned about 45degrees until it actually started turning the SUV in either direction... (SUV or SUC(k) ) hated that thing

I took a hack saw to my stillen short throw. cut about 2 inches off of it. It is now shorter than my buddies short throw in his mustang, and also shifts better than it. it works wonders to cut it down!

You can get an STS, but before that, try this shift ****;

http://www.rspeed.net/miata/item.asp...0&prod=531-103

It's an aftermarket **** for Mazdas, but the threading is identical to ours.

It made the stick length shorter on my car, so the throws feel a bit shorter, even without an STS. If you still need a shorter throw than that, thn get an STS.

I have a 98 5 spd max and the first thing I noticed was the shifter. I had an acura integra and a honda accord before this (both 5 spd) and the shifting in both was shorter and more precise. I'm looking to get an STS in hopes to improve this.

Actually the 18-wheeler I drive has shorter throws than my Max (really). I think a STS is in the near future for me.

Its not bad. I drove a Boxster S 6 speed and the throw is almost the same length. The stick height on the Box is shorter though.
