problems with my acura legend...please help

just got a 92 legend auto w/ 38k miles.
when u move the shifter from park to reverse or drive, you can feel it jerk very hard.
also when it's at idle, it vibrates a lot.

when it kicks into 1st gear, you can fell the jerk too.

anybody can help? i think it's the motor or tranny mounts.
also will flushing the tranny help?

albert from legends forum was helpful but the legend forum sucks it's not like the maxima's.

thanks

Actualy when I was shopping for a legend, they all had suprisingly low miles on them. Probably because they are old lady cars.

Then again so was my first Maxima.

um if u can feel a HARD shift into gear and it takes a long time to do so and when it finally does the whole car jerk...thas the tranny...it's dying...to prolong watever life is left in the tranny...i sai...when u shift...don't go stepping on the gas rite away...give it time to shift...when u feel it shift then drive off...also alot of honda that i've been in shift harder then my maxima...maybe it's normal...

AND MAXIMAS AREN'T?!
Legends ruled it, they can hang with 3rd and 4th gen maxes in all aspects. Not to mention the 230hp 6 speed coupe... Old lady car? I think not. They were awesome cars in their time and still are.

1HOTMAX: My old '89 legend did the same thing, I think they all shift a bit harsher than what we're used to in the maxima but I'd be careful just the same. Do a ATF flush and remember not to shift into drive while the car's still rolling backwards.
Do an oil change, change the oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs and see if that helps. Oh and of course run a carfax on it!
I don't know if legends had problems with their motor or tranny mounts going bad, but it couldn't hurt to check.

Take care of it they're great cars!

What Legend forums were you at? I know there are a few. In case you haven't been to this one: http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulletin/ check it out, it the best Legend forum by a fare margin.

I owned a 91 Legend and mind did the same thing. I thik the problem was with the rear tranny mount. I am surprised you could not get an answer at legend.org

I will admit answers usually come rather quick here

I have never been in a Honda of that period that didn't have that hard shift. I think it was a design flaw...

Well actaully the basic legend without the 230hp is no match for a 4th gen or early 5th gen., a good run for an auto VE although.

first off I will tell you maxima's are better than legends, all the parts are stronger and last longer. Do only thing is that the 91-95 legends look really hot and so do the 4th gen max. To answer your question I had a 91 legend which of course I sold just to fix up my 3rd gen max and it shift just the same way you described. I am 100% sure it is the tranny mount nothing else. Your car was probably in a front end accident before you got it or the odometer was roll backed like crazy because the car would not shift that hard at only 38k
