Header update! Gasket pics and more(2002)

I picked up a 2000 gasket and 2002 gasket today to see if the OBX headers would fit my 2002 and they will! The gaskets are 99.9% the same. The 2000 gasket has 2 little rivets in the middle of it, that's just about the only difference and it will have no effct on fitment. Heres a few pics of the gaskets and a pic of the 2002 headers and pre-cat.

Heres the 2002 gasket up top and the 2000 gasket on the buttom (I labeled then too, hehe)

Heres a pic of the 2002 gasket on top of the 2000 gasket, everthing matches up perfectly!!

2002 oem headers and precat pic with the heat shiled removed.

I found a shop down the street that will weld the 2 bungs in my B-pipe and he will also tap them so I can move my o2 sensors in back. Tomarrow I am going to order the OBX headers and a Y-pipe. I want to get a WSP Y-pipe but I am not sure if they make one for the fed spec 2000? If not I will be getting a Stillen Y-pipe.

Stay tuned!

We do make a Y pipe for the Fed spec 2000 Maxima, it comes equipped with a 2-1/2" collector which we use on all of our Y pipes unlike the 2-1/4" collector Stillen and some of our other competitors use. You would need to let us know the placement of your o2 inserts.

I smell a group buy deal brewing.

Good luck on the header Emax. I'll be installing the Nitrous this weekend and I'll have info to report on that soon.

You guys are funny

I will dyno my car as soon as I get them on. I did a dyno about 2 months ago and everything on the car is the same now so it's a good baseline.

I guess the only question now is if OBX really does make headers for the Maxima. I don't see how these headers would make anymore power than the stock manifolds due to their excessively short runner design. BUT, if they make power, I'll get them too

I just called OBX and guess what... Two more months for teh headers. Screw that, I am just going to get some 2000 oem fed-spec headers and a Y-pipe then. Ohh well, maybe if they come out with the headers in the future I will get them. I can't beleive some of the crap people tell you, argh!!!

So now it looks like 2000 fed-spec headers and a WSP Y-pipe. Atleast this will be a lot cheaper to do. Hopefully I will get a good gains from adding the Y-pipe.

I hope they aren't wuss headers. It doesn't look like they have much distance to work with if they can bolt to the existing Y pipe. It would ahve to be a complete kit to make any real power.

The are no headers so I won't have to worry about it..

I just ordered fed-spec oem front and back headers for $90 shipped. Now I just have to get threw to WSP.

I figure most of the gains are going to come from the Y-pipe anyways, the headers was just a little bonus idea to try while the manifolds were off. It would still be sweet if I get another 15 FWHP from a Y-pipe. Maybe with a 2.1 60' I will be able to hit the 13's with a Y-pipe @ over 100 MPH!

So tell me if I'm wrong, you are going to purchase the oem manifolds for the 2000 model because the 2002 model's are more restricive than the 2000 because they have all the pre-cats in them like a 2000 y-pipe has in it? And of course the y-pipe will match up becasue there are exsisting aftermarket y-pipes for the 2000 model, correct? And this will in turn produce gains similar to a y-piped early 5th gen?

Yep, I have had enough of this crap at this point. From now on I won't beleive any of it until I see it.

I feel the same way. Aftermarket companies are notorious for saying they've got something available that hasn't even been developed yet.

Good luck with the Y-pipe. I'm uncertain if you'll find any gains, but it's always worth a shot. You should contact Dallas personally (call after 530pm) and tell him EXACTLY what you are doing. I bet they would be willing to "help you out" if they knew you would relay info back letting them what needs to be done on this swap for a 2002.
