I just went to a local muffler shop, they quote me $250.00 installed for magnaflow!!
he say its b/c 2k2 maxima is harder to do the muffler swap than most of the cars out there? and that he can't just take the muffler off, he has to start with the pipe behind the muffler, and he'll switch it to 2.5" too?
good price?

 

BTW, he also told me i can replace my DAMN PIPE (that's what it sounded like) with aftermarket damn? pipe and that should give me extra 15 hp
btw, he has a 4th maxima and 2002 altima

 

I think he said "down pipe" and $250 for just a muffler?? does that $250 include the price of the muffler too?? IMO, I say go somewhere else...the shop I goto here in MD will do full 2.5" catback (and B-pipe for the 4/5th gens) and install an aftermarket muffler of your choice for $180-200.

There's no "guess" about it. He's trying to rip you off. The muffler shop I go to will install a SS Magnaflow muffler with a custom rear pipe and flange for $150.00.
