Hi,

I'm very interested in the VB mod ... but one thing worries me ... After the Modification ... does it make the Maxima a "Beeyatch" to drive under NORMAL conditions???

What I mean is ... will someone like my GF notice the difference????

I don't want any major changes to the way it accelerates UNLESS its WOT!!!

Thanx in advance,
Empz

We have had this for some time now and I will tell you it makes a tremendous difference in shifting, however it does not throw out your neck. I drive an 850 turbo on a daily basis and that throws out my neck with stock shifting. This VB mod simply elminates much of the lag in a stock auto transmission and makes the transisitioning between gears extremely smooth. I would recommend this. Hell, the max is my wifes daily driver and she loves it.

SO to answer your question, I do not think it will damage any necks, however you will notice a definite change. Hope this helps.

No. Your GF will not notice anything>>>

The VB Mod simply makes the shifts firmer and faster, not harsher. My friends didn't even notice when I got the VB mod, after I told them they realized the firmer shifts. Under normal driving conditions it shifts crisply and won't snap your neck on every shifts. Under WOT it shifts very aggressively and fast, sometimes you'll feel some jerk when it shifts but nothing harsh. I don't even notice it anymore. This mod is a must for an auto, if you drive aggressively, it'll prolong the life of your tranny in the long run.

make sure you can do the mod / know of someone / know of a tranny shop that'd help you with the VB install...don't be like me...pay for the VB but end up crashing down to reality when the tranny shops around here in my area don't wanna do it...tell Don about it...and he promises to refund my money. I end up having to wait 3 months before I get a single reply from Don about the refund after I advise him about my displeasure and my intentions to flame his good name on the forum....but like I said...I am still waiting...and I'm unsure about whether he's gonna eventually refund me the money or not...!

so my $0.02 to you...is to make very sure you want it and are able to get it installed...before you commit to any business dealings!

thanks

Dude, I'm sorry about what happened. But enough already. Consider your bad experience put on record. Really, you should try to do it yourself. Wouldn't have had that problem.. Maybe you dont believe in yourself or something.. But I believe if you can use basic handtools.. and have half a brain.. you can do it.. So its partially your fault..

Agreed. It really isn't difficult to do with help from one other person. I don't consider myself particularly mechanically inclined (I've done bolt-ons on a few Hondas and DSMs before, but nothing huge) and I did it with a friend's help in about 3-4 hours.

I'm not going to say anything much about the transaction because I don't know the exact details of what went on, but I do know this. When I got my VB mod from Don, he was more than helpful to me. I was provided with a cell phone number where I could reach him in case I had any questions with the install. I did have to send the VB back to him to mod again (out of my own personal preferences it was a bit too firm of a shift, nothing wrong with the product at all) and he took care of that quickly and professionally. I have also emailed him with other questions about the Maxima, not having anything at all to do with the VB mod, and he has answered those and helped me out.

Do I know Don personally? Nope, never met him, probably never will. What I do know is that he has been nothing but helpful to me in my Maxima modding adventures. He has also responded to this matter in a professional manner and does not want his good name tarnished. Many of you may be forming opinions on this matter without knowing either party or exact details of what happened. You're going on something that one member has said against another member. What makes what one of them has said more credible than what the other has said? That's for you to decide. I'm not taking sides here so please correct me if you think I'm being biased. I'm just stating my own personal experience with Don. Personally, I don't think it's going to help tclee's case at all by posting something negative about Don every time his name shows up in a post.

It's almost like Woodear showing up everytime JimW and roadkill show up in the same post. Heeeere Woodear..... JimW roadkill JimW roadkill.....

I think we all got your point.

Anyway, to the question at hand, everything that has been said is absolutely true. You will notice firmer, crisper shifts, but by no means will it throw you back or whip your neck. I feel it's a must-have.

Re: Now I'm INTERESTED ... BUT

Are the VB mods made for all year maximas? I have a 90se 5spd but my 92GXE auto is what I'd want it for. How much do they cost? And what exactly has to be done to get it installed? Thanks in advance
