They tell you to submit your data but they never post it.

i think your best bet is to find an enthusiast site such as maxima.org is for the Maxima and ask on the forums regarding the 0-60 or 1/4 times.. That would be the most accurate way. I've read magazines and different test drives where they were up to 1.5 seconds off from what the car is really capable of.

If you're talking about Maxima.org then that's pretty reliable I guess. But if you go to other boards you might get lied to or have exaggerated claims made.

For example, when I was buying my AccordV6 I went on some boards and was told you could hit low-15's just with some bolt-on's. The real truth though is that the Accord V6 can hardly break into high-15's even with bolt-on's

www.autosite.com - has a reference of mag times for each car.
www.car-stats.com - also uses mag times, but the user-submitted stuff is usually crap and way off.

If I'm not mistaken, some mags correct their times to sea level and standard conditions too, just so they can always compare cars on a level playing field, so you have to read the fine print and take that into account.

I hate that place the nubers are so far off its not even funny. I have not seen one correct stat yet. For example:

1998 Nissan Maxima SE 8.2 16.5 84. I dont think so (maybe with 3 people in the car). I have yet to see a site that says they quote C&D or MT and be right. I have C&D and every test i have seen is in the high 6's or low 7's. This site is sevearly screwed up.

Just a thought.. If you want to complain so much about car-stats, make a better site. Until you're willing to put forth the effort to compile and post all that data, don't complain.

I remember that issue and I was baffled as well at those times. Alot of people wrote in on later issues and were like what was up with that Maximas times, because the previous Auto C&D mag tested did the deed in 7.3 sec and was in the high 15's for 1/4 mile! They said we dont know!

Geez you see how much those times very on a couple of the cars. Take for instance the 0-60 times of the 1990 to 1995 300ZX Twinturbo, it's times varied from 5.2 to 6.5. How's that even possible?

I can't remember the very first models, I think they were somewhere in the 7-sec 0-60mph range. The most recent ones with the 253hp 3.5L V6 and Autostick was tested at 5.5 seconds by Motor Trend(I think it was them, anyway).

My complaint is legit. If they ask you for your data to post up why don't they do it(Not a flame but just a good argument)? Definitely not the end of the world but it would help if they posted more Maxima numbers.
