why are some racers so stupid (kinda long)

I just have to vent here guys. Last nite a friend and i were out at like 2am driving around on the strip up here in chicopee MA, i pull up next to some moron in a ford focus zx3, he starts reving his engine and stupid stuff like that. I know this road always has speed traps, plus is a FOCUS, so im not gonna bother wasting my time. Well this guy takes off the line and i dont, i just got the speed limit. Well he slows down and starts yelling for me to "line it up for slips" I thought he was either stupid or drunk. I dont bother then he starts swerving into my lane so i drop it into 2nd and take off to put some distance between us. Well he starts following me around all the sidestreets wanting me to race him for cash or slips. After he almost rear ends me twice and got in front of me once and locked up his brakes at a green light so i almost hit him i had enough, i see a local cop in a parking lot and pull in. I told the cop that some nut was trying to race and tried hitting my car. The focus had turned into the parking lot to follow us but when he saw the cop he left in a hurry. The cop takes off after him and tells me to follow. The guy tried running and took side streets before he lost it and well it turns out the cop said he was up over 110 mph in a 35mph zone to get the guy but in the end, his A$$ was in jail and hit nice little focus was towed away. I cant figure some people out, 230am and nothing better to do than to be a ******* and wind up in jail.

Yeah im up for a good race once in a while, and when its over and you wave and flash the hazards its a good feeling but when that **** happens comon now, i was happy they nailed him to the wall.
Plus the cop told me to follow him, but no way in hell was i gonna do 100 blowing red lights to keep up. it was a great feeling to pull up later and see him in the back of the cruiser and his car on the tow truck

I commend you for staying off the gas pedal. A friendly race once in a while (for me, once in a blue moon really) is one thing, but racing with people that drive like that is dangerous in and of itself. I'm sure since he had a Focus, that he wanted to wreck the thing as soon as possible so mom and pops could buy him something with SOME kind of go, but...

man, good work.
only one problem, and im quite disappointed by it. you had a get out of jail free card to follow a cop (thats on itself is a get out of jail free card for running red lights) at speeds of 110mph +, i sure would do it. that would be so much fun. think of the practice you could get. then again, im 17, im not stupid about racing, because quite frankly i have alot to loose if i get caught or loose or anything. anyway, I guess thats why I would take the oppurtunity to go racing around the city chasing a cop. just sounds like alot of fun, wouldnt you guys agree?
i can see why you didnt though, wether it be that you were tired/ werent in the mood, or just have done it before, so its not as thrilling as the first few times.

the fastest I have ever gone is 105, it was my 17th b-day present to myself and ive never been to a track.
anyway let me know what you think.

HA HA HA!!!!! What a dork not only would you have blown his doors off, he wrecks his ride AND gets to spend the night in jail.Thats funny Im glad nobody was hurt though. You were right for not speeding to keep up with the cop he probably wouldve given you a ticket.

focus is only as fast as the tow truck in front of it.

I had one of these Saturday night, but sadly I am not sure what kind of condition he nor his passengers are right now. I was driving some friends home after a club and some kid decides his civic is faster than I am so I let him go... he's doing a slalom accross three lanes on the highway at about 85-90mph, then loses control and goes flying headfirst into the center concrete barrier - I didn't even see his brake lights go on before impact. The car then flies 90 degrees spin into the wall again - passenger side mashes into it, and as I pass/avoid him he goes straight for the ditch. It was insane, the driver was quite probably intoxicated as he was flying all over the highway like a rag doll - the entire engine bay was gone after the first impact, with all pieces of front end/doors/ panels skidding accross the highway at such speed that they were sparking and even flaming. Least I say everyone that was removed out of the car was on a stretcher. I feel very bad for the families, and for the passengers who end up getting the worst part of the entire deal.

I remember lighting it up here and there at the odd light or two; nowadays I just take it speedlimit + a few miles over... children at play on the streets, and now they have cars instead of rollerblades..

hmmm...i wonder if the guy in the focus watched the fast and the furious?

seriously though, that guy sounds like a total loser, glad to see that you had your head on straight, and good thing you saw that cop.

btw, when the cop told you to follow him(or her?), how fast were you going? becuase you said that the focus was doing 110mph, the cop must have been going pretty fast, were you?

I saw the cop parked in a parking lot so i turned in and the ugly focus followed me in until he saw the cop so noone saw me blowing stop signs and lights so i didnt give the punk a chance to get next to me or block me in. I did have a nice lil bat next to me but wasnt planning on using it unless i had to. My friend was right next to me asking the guy if he thought he was cool in that car, and asked him how much $$$ he wasted on it....

so why did you decide not to follow the cop? that fast.
still you had to be going pretty fast because it sounds like it was pure city and thats alot of blocks to cover other wise.
also what happened to the focas? sounds like he got in a accident?
i dunno, it was no max, too bad for him, but yea, do watch out, ive heard some real horror stories about race results.

I wanted to follow him, but i figured hed turn around and give me some sorta ticket for something stupid, so i just cruised on up the road. The road is just off the main highway and its full ove shopping centers and places like those. Plus with all the traffic lights around i didnt want to blow through them all and risk getting into an accident. I actually went back to the place where i found the 1st cop and there was another one there and he flagged me down and asked if i was the one who reported him, and got stuck filling out a report for what happened. As for the focus, when i saw it it was on the flatbed off the tow truck, and i couldnt see the front end but the cop said he was flying till he lost it and thats when he gave up.

Even if you're following a cop, running through stoplights at any time and any speed is just plain stupid. even if the cop has his lights on, YOU DON'T. if you happen to get clipped by the next drunkyard that comes flying through the intersection right after the cop goes through, SMASH! and it's your fault for running a red light.

Just because a cop says to follow him doesn't give you the excuse to go flying through town at 100+ and breaking every traffic law known to man.
you're a young 17 yrs old. I understand you're not wise.. but please don't do something like that just because you think you "can" because a cop said to follow him.

It's asking for a trip to the hospital if not jail after that.

I know I hate idiots like that. I will never race on memorial drive again. I have seen many people get pulled over there, take it to westover or something, not memorial tho.

I've seen you twice so far Krash on Rt.57, I'm working thurs, and fri, let's see if I'll see you again . I'm just afraid Rt.57 is getting cops. BTW, last Friday, when I hit my brakes, it was more like me trying to act cool because I just hit my 115mph limiter... LOL.

Stupid slow saturns, Oh well, time to go work on the 2k2 project car, cya!
